3. Sit comfortably in a chair with your feet flat on
the floor. Place your left arm on a table at a
slight angle.
On the inside of the upper arm, ca 2,5 cm
above your elbow, you can feel your pulse with
your finger tips.
Slide the open cuff over your arm until the
lower edge is 2-3 cm away from the elbow.
Make sure that the stethoscope head is placed
over the artery.

4. Place your left arm on a table, so the cuff is a
level with your hart.
Make sure the valve is closed.
Inflate the cuff until the pointer is on the
gouge is 30 mmHg above your normal blood
pressure. If there are still noises in the
stethoscope, inflate to 200 mmHg first.
Slightly unscrew the valve. Proper deflation
rate is 2-3 mmHg per second.
As the cuff begins to deflate you must listen
carefully with the stethoscope. Note the
reading on the gauge as soon as you hear a
faint, rhythmic tapping or thumping sound.
This is the systolic blood pressure reading.
When your diastolic blood pressure value is
reached, the thumping sounds stops.

is not placed over the
artery during measuring.
2.The ear pieces are
blocked with dirt.
