about its history, students and

Background:
Vilkaviškis Salomėja Nėris Basic
School was established as a catholic
gymnasium in 1918. At the beginning
there were only two classes. You can
see the old building of our school in
the photo.

10. In November 1954 our
school was named after one
of the most famous
Lithuanian poetess Salomėja
Nėris.

Like a bead of amber glowing bright.
Her old melodies arouse my wonder
And her patterned weave is my delight.
For a keepsake take this bead of

Cast by waves upon the Baltic strand.

Vilkaviškis, LT-70105 ( near the centre of the town)
Aims of School Community:
· providing good education;
· developing educational programmes;
· improving learning and teaching environment.
Co-curricular activities:
10 sports; 3 dance teams; 1 singing band; a choir; an
orchestra.
School hours:
The school day begins at 8.00 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.
Most students have got 6 or 7 lessons a day.
