About Rohtak- the Host City
Rohtak is a district of the Haryana state and falls within National Capital Region (NCR) of
India—about 75 Kms from Delhi on the Delhi-Hisar National Highway (NH-10), about 240 Kms from
the state capital Chandigarh and 150 Kms from Kurukshetra (a famous ancient place in Haryana).
Rohtak is well connected both by rail as well as road. The nearest Airport is at Delhi. The city
combines rich past with pulsating present and bright future. It is the education hub of the State with
excellent facilities for education in all fields of knowledge and has been developing as a centre for
academic excellence in North India. IIM, Rohtak and University of Health Sciences are located within
a close proximity of the host institution “Maharshi Dayanand University”, Rohtak. Apart from the
University itself, there are various places in and around Rohtak that are worth visiting including Tilyar
lake, Baba Mastnath Muth, Fun Town (Asauda). The climate of the city in November is pleasant with
temperature ranging between 150 C to 250 C.

About the Host Institution
Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak was established in 1976, named after a great visionary
and social reformer, Maharshi Dayanand. It is spread over a sprawling area of over 665 acres and is
well laid with state-of-the-art buildings and magnificent road network and presents a spectacle of
harmony in architecture and natural beauty. The history of this university is closely linked with
educational, cultural, political and economic growth of modern Haryana. It is making fast progress to
emerge as a leading educational institution of the nation and is developing as an academic hub for
traditional as well as employment-oriented professional courses. Presently, it is a teaching-cum-
affiliating university with 38 Post Graduate departments, 11 faculties, one PG Regional Centre at
Rewari, one off-line campus centre, Directorate of Distance Education, Institute of Law and
Management Studies at Gurgaon and 692 affiliated colleges of general education, engineering,
technology, computer sciences and management sciences located in 10 districts of the Haryana State.
With its large campus, it provides excellent infrastructural facilities. For more information, you may
visit to its website: www. mdurohtak.ac.in
The Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest departments of the M. D. University,
Rohtak and was established in the year 1976. Over the years the department has made rapid strides in
academics and at present it has over 500 students distributed over several programs such as M.Sc.
Mathematics, M.Sc. Mathematics with Computer Science, 5-Year integrated M.Sc. (Hons)
Mathematics, M.Phil., Pre Ph.D course work and Ph.D.

About Indian Society for History of Mathematics
Indian Society for History of Mathematics (ISHM) was founded by Late Professor Udita
Narayana Singh in the year 1978. The Society aims to promote study, teaching and education in
history of mathematical sciences. It provides a forum for exposition of ideas and experiences by way
of organizing periodical national and international meetings/seminars/conferences on the works of
ancient, medieval and modern mathematicians. ISHM has also been bringing out the bulletin Ganita
Bharati ever since its inception. Details on the activities of the Society are available at:
www.indianshm.com
Local Hospitality
Registered participants will be provided free conference kit, lunch/dinner and tea/coffee at the
