        • Don’t use the “Friend” option to connect with
          people
        • Don’t forget to include all your external links
          (e.g. twitter)
Ioannis Nikolaou | http://about.me/nikolaou | inikol@aueb.gr | twitter@nikolaou
Mistakes to Avoid
        • Don’t spam your connections
        • Don’t ask people who DON’T know you to write
          recommendations for you
        • First complete your profile as much as possible
          and then :
                – start connecting with people you don’t know or join
                  groups
                – Start joining groups
        • Your Linkedin profile is NOT your CV…

What is the future of SNWs?
        • Stronger integration with job boards &
          applicant tracking systems
        • Emphasis on industry-specific SNWs (e.g.
embedded.com for engineers, ishade.com for accountants,
              researchgate.net for academics/researchers, etc.)
        • Intranet based SNWs (e.g. yammer.com)
        • Mobile based SNWs
                – SoLoMo (social, local, mobile) services

Ioannis Nikolaou | http://about.me/nikolaou | inikol@aueb.gr | twitter@nikolaou
What is the future of SNWs?
        • No presence in SNWs, esp. LinkedIn?
                – No presence in labor market….
                – No More Résumés, Say Some Firms
                        • CVs will become extinct
