The project took approximately two
months of planning and about 1 week
in execution.
There Kidney Dialysis unit at the Akron
Children’s Hospital is actively in use on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The child patients have to sit for up to
3.5 hours during the procedure. For a
long time the walls were blank causing
an uninviting and sterile looking
environment for both the staff and
their patients.
3. Above the Tree Tops
I remember being a child, and still am at heart. The best memories I
have are those when I climbed trees or stood on hill tops enabled to look
out across the land and dream. I wanted to give this to the kids.
5. Under the Sea
The front waiting room can hold the
same kind of environmental issues for
the parents and family waiting for
their kids undergoing dialysis.
Bringing them safely and whimsically
under the waters of a rolling sea was
an idea which was inspired by the 150
gallon fish tank positioned in the
room.
The warm waters of the southern
boarders of the United States provide
a calm embrace for anyone who has
the opportunity to spend time in the
golf or the Caribbean. I currently live
in Savannah GA and having the
opportunity to swim in the ocean for
the first time this passed year inspired
me to gift that to these families.
