Overriding all of this is the need to secure money to cover Telecare’s development over the period – difficult in current financial climate. New 5 year strategy in which we might commit to: Closing the gap between first generation and second generation telecare market penetration – e.g. doubling the number of the over 65 population receiving second generation telecare services to 60,000 people by 2015 and doubling it again to 120,000 by 2020 Significantly raising the numbers of people in Scotland enjoying telehealth services – e.g. to 3% of the over 65 population by 2015 and 10% by 2020 All people over 85 provided with a telehealthcare package All people with dementia provided with a telehealthcare package All people with an elevated risk of injury through falling provided with a telehealthcare package All patients with a long term condition (LTC) associated with elevated risks of emergency admission to hospital provided with a telehealthcare package As part of this we’d need to work jointly with SCT and other partners, provide a national demonstrator centre to showcase positive approaches to THC – and ensure that all of this is reflected in other key policy agendas.
