2. • When you report a question, the tenses
change as in reported statements.
She asked me if I was married.
PRESENT PAST
Are you married?

3. • When a question begins with a verb (not a
question word) add “if” or “whether”.
He asked me whether/if she had phoned.
Did she phone?

4. • You also have to change the word order to
subject + verb and not use do/did.
She asked me where I lived.
Where do you
live?
