2. History of the McGrath Foundation The McGrath Foundation is a breast cancer support and educational charity in Australia. The funds the foundation raises help breast care nurses in communities across Australia. As well as this they also help educate young women to be breast-aware. The foundation was founded by Jane McGrath and co-founded by her husband Glen McGrath in 2002. The two established the charity after Jane was in recovery from breast cancer. At the young age of 42 Jane lost her battle with breast cancer on 22 June 2008

Purpose and services it provides to the community The McGrath foundation has two main purposes which are to raise money to place breast care nurses in communities all throughout Australia and to educate young women to become breast aware. The McGrath foundation is very passionate about empowering women under 40 to take control of their health by conducting regular breast checks. This early detection could save lives. The McGrath foundation is successful in raising money to place 54 McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia. They have also raised money to increase breast awareness in young Australian women.
4. Employees The Chairman and co founder of the McGrath Foundation is Australian cricketer Glen McGrath. There are then four board members, as well as a CEO and 19 staff members. The foundations then has 54 McGrath Breast Care Nurses.
5. Leader of the organisation The CEO of the McGrath Foundation is KyleaTink. She works to ensure all the foundations activities and events keep on work towards realising Jane and Glen’s visions which are to be able to provide support for those suffering breast cancer and raising awareness among communities. Glen McGrath, co-founder of the McGrath foundation, is currently the Chairman of the board and plays an active roll in organising as well as participating in fundraisers.
6. Methods it uses to raise money The McGrath foundation hosts many fundraising events as well as having corporate and private donations. One of the largest events happens at the cricket over summer in Sydney. Each year they have a day at the cricket named as Jane McGrath Day. On this day all cricket fans and players dress in pink to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. The day is always a huge success and over the years this event alone has raised over 1 million US dollars. Some of the corporate sponsors include Coles, Australia post and Vodafone. The website also offers an online ‘Pink store’ which sells cricket products, beauty, stationary and clothing.
7. Location of the organisation The head office of the organisation is located in Northbridge, NSW. There are many McGrath foundation nurses distributed all throuighout Australia.
8. Facts Jane McGrath, the founder of the organisation, was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31. It costs approximately $350,000 to employ each full-time McGrath Breast Care Nurse over a minimum three year period.
9. Foundation or Charity? The McGrath foundation is a foundation as it exists to further a cause which is to help young women with breast cancer.
