Seasonal Sports Turf Intern
The Dayton Dragons are looking for two
seasonal Sports Turf interns for the 2012
season. These positions offer a great
opportunity for hands on experience in all
aspects of Sports Turf Management at Fifth
Third Field. The Dragons first appeared in
Dayton in 2000, and have sold out every
game since. In 2011, the Dayton Dragons
set the professional baseball sellout record
with 815 consecutive sellouts. A complete
field renovation will be completed by the
start of the 2012 season.
As an intern, duties would include maintaining the infield clay, mounds, and home plate
to Professional Baseball standards. Also, experience will be gained with edging,
fertilizer/fungicide applications, aerifying and topdressing, mound/plate work, batting
practice set up/break down, and warning track maintenance.
This position requires being able to lift 50 lbs consistently, and work 40+ hours including
most weekends during the season. Interns will also be expected to help with tarp pulls
as needed.
Prior sports turf management experience and a major in turf management or related
field is preferred, but not required.
