16. הקהילה החדשה נסמכת על תקשורת ממוחשבת בצורת רשתות חברתיות וירטואליות . הנפוצה והבולטת בהן היא facebook . זוהי רשת " ישראל " בפייסבוק , ומספר החברים בה גדל באלפים לחודש . כמו בקהילה המסורתית גם ברשתות החברתיות אנשים מתאגדים סביב מכנים משותפים ; כגון תחומי עניין , מיקום גיאוגראפי וכמובן , דת . The new community is based upon computer communication in social networks. The most common of them is facebook. This is the ‘Israel’ network in facebook, and it’s growing by several thousands per month. In traditional communities as well as in virtual ones, people unite through commons: interests, location and of course – religion .

Each dot represent a friend of mine, and the lines are stretched between persons who are friends with each other as well as with me. ניתן ללמוד הרבה מגרף זה . לדוגמא , מקבץ זה מייצג את חברי מהצבא , שם כולם מכירים את כולם וכולם חברים של כולם . This graph can provide us with plenty of information; e.g. this cluster represents friends form my army service, where everybody lives and knows each other. לעומת זאת , מקבץ זה מייצג את חברי ללימודים האקדמאים , שם הצפיפות דלילה יותר והמספר החברים המשותפים קטן בהרבה . On the opposite, this cluster represents friends form my academic studies. You can easily see that there are far less common friends and the community is not as dense.
