ADVERTISEMENTS ?
Deceptive advertising also known as false advertising, refers to:
1) using of confusing,
2) misleading,
3) blatantly untrue statements when promoting a product.
advertisements take advantage of children,
Manipulates our behavior,
uses sex to sell,
and generally contribute to the downfall of our social system.
creates serious impact on the tastes, values and lifestyles of society

• We all go running to the Mc Donalds fast food
joint in the hope of getting a cheezy, huge, thick
, finger licking good burger!
Don’t we?
• But sadly the reality doesn’t appeal to us that
much! Because what we actually get is a
sagging, miserly seasoned, and minimum cheese
filled burger!!!

• Kellogg's claimed in their advertisements that
consuming k Kellogg's breakfast cereal would
definitely help females loose a certain
amount of killo’s weight within 2 weeks.
• However, this was proved wrong when the
customers actually used the product !

10. NIVEA “BIO SLIM COMPLEX ”
Would you buy a body lotion that claims:
“regular use significantly reduces body size” ?
We guess many WOMEN would!
Nivea had to pay $900,000 in 2001 as a part
of settlement for misleading ads.
And had to stop producing “Bio-slim
Complex”.

LOVELY FAIRNESS CREAM” , the facial complexion
of women is going to get changed in a matter of
days if they apply this beauty cream.
The advertisement says that the colour of the
skin will get fair, however the complexion of a
dark skinned female has never in the history of
this product got converted to pure white colour!

“Kills germs that cause Bad Breath, Plaque & gum disease Gingivitis”
• Listerine got in trouble claiming that the product could

4. and a safe way to protect yourself from cuts,

• However, Using Listerine as a over the counter medicine wasn’t
clinically supported.
• Pfizer (THE COMPANY) had to pull its commercials and change its
claims.

after a few uses?
Duracell, and The Procter & Gamble Company got
sued in US by customers claiming that the companies
were delivering a deceptive marketing scheme.

batteries were more expensive than regular batteries.
