2. Office pools (if run properly) can be very
successful ... and a heck of a lot fun for all! There
have been office pools designed for sports (football,
basketball, soccer) Hollywood (Oscars, Emmys) and
television (American Idol, Survivor) making them
very attractive. Transcending the sporting world, the
big screen and TV make office pools one of the
most powerful promotional tools. Along with
selection comes responsibility: picking the right
office pool can make all the difference. Before
running any office pool or sports board, make sure it
is allowed in your company or organization (so that
no one gets fired!).
3. Rules and Insights (courtesy of SBCRules and Insights (courtesy of SBC
Promotions)Promotions)
Don't get crazy, stick with what you and the players
understand. If the event, be it personal, Hollywood,
political or sporting related, is to difficult to understand
popularity will be low and finding office pool players
will be tough.
Do your homework; knowing the event and the rules
of the promotion is very important. Be sure of one
thing, you will get numerous questions on both.
4. Get an assistant; sharing the load makes the event more
enjoyable for you and it also increases the accessibility of the
office pools to the players.
Inform players: A quick and easy way is through email, but
before you send out a blank email, make sure it doesn't get you
fired.
5. Set up the office pool; two options are
available:
a.Get out the pens, paper, markers and
rulers, get to work and start drawing, or
b.Use the internet to locate the sports board
or office pool that fits your promotion. We
can help with that!
Make sure it's legal; sports boards and
office pools are considered social gambling.
Go to the state law summary section of
Gambling Law US and use the table you'll
find there as a reference.
Most importantly ... have fun!
