with First Information Revolution
• The digital fabrication machine industry may
become the leading industry that enables
“Third Industrial Revolution”.
• Social technology is leading the First
Information Revolution.
• Social Fabrication will make significant impact
on the way we live, learn, work and play.
4. “Social” is the key
• “Social” dimension of the use of the digital
technology, “social technology” has become
the key driving factor in the recent years and
leading the First Information Revolution.
• New movement: “Social Fabrication” rather
than digital or personal fabrication
• “Sharing”, co-design, co-creation are the keys
5. Conviviality
• Social fab may spread all over the globe within
next 15 to 30 years
• Same time for Internet
• This movement allows people to interact more
creatively with physical objects, be it art,
appliances, gadgets or daily commodities
• It will provide greater sense of positive feel –
“deep play” (Rifkin)’ or “conviviality” [Kumon
2004] in the coming phase of Information Society
