STEPS INVOLVED IN PRODUCING AN ATTRACTIVE SKETCH
2. When people mention about sketching or students were ask to sketch a subject,
most of them would probably shake their head or sigh because they don’t have any
idea about what is sketching was or the definition of sketching. Now, let me explain
to you, sketching is actually a quick drawing of something that we observed from our
surrounding. Sketching enable us to capture essentials of subject without appearing
to be labored or overworked. Purpose of sketching is to record something that we
see, record or develop an idea for later use as well as it is a quick way if graphically
demonstrating an image, idea and principle. Methods used in producing a sketch
include understanding, required materials, choosing a subject, attention or caution
while sketching and finalization of sketching.
While, let us begin with the first step in sketching, which is the understanding. I
think understanding is the most important aspect in whole work because if we don’t
understand the goal of sketching, it means we are wasting our time doing
meaningless sketching rather than sketching a subject related. Goal of sketching is
important because you must know what exactly do you want to show or to convey to
the public of what you have visualized in your mind or in you real life. After you have
decide what to sketch, you have to focus on that subject that you are going to sketch
by getting more details related to that particular subject. You can take extra note on
the small details like the texture, color, size, perspective and expression (if any). You
don’t have to draw exactly detailed of the subject or scene, but you have to allow the
people to visualize and understand your sketch that you are going to draw, this is the
important reminder so that public can see clearly and easier to be understand your
sketch later. Then, you should start to measure the proportion of the subject, for
example, the height of a human body compare to the building in your perspective.
3. Certain artist presses the thumb on the body of pencil to measure the length of
object from that distance.
After you have done measuring the proportion, then you have to determine the
right material to use in you sketch later. One of the most often used materials the
pencil. But, there are different types of pencils. “H” type pencils are the hardest
pencil. It is use to sketch the thin, straight and non-blend-able lines. You are avoid to
press too hard when using this type of pencil because if you use too hard on paper, it
is difficult to rub the lead off from the paper and will result in leaving a mark which
will affect the next procedure. The assortment available is 6H, 4H and 2H. While “B”
type pencil is the softest pencil. The function is to draw smudged and blurry lines for
shading sketch. The assortment available 6B, 4B and 2B. Next is the paper. Most
common type is the fine art paper because it has a bit a texture which allow it to be
the easiest time sketching and come out with the best overall appearance than the
printer paper which is thin and doesn’t hold the pencil sketch type well.
After gather all the required materials for sketching, you can start to sketch. During
the process of sketching, some cautions need to be taken so that you can produce a
prefect sketch with minimize mistake done. To see clearly on what you are sketching,
you must sketch in a bright and comfortable environment. Then, you can start
sketching, when you start your sketch you should use a light hand and lots of short,
quick strokes. This will make it easier to test out different ways of drawing a
particular object, and will allow you to erase mistakes much easier as well. First, you
have to find the light source by locating the primary light source to determine when to
sketch the lightest and when to sketch darkest, if you are sketching the scene, you
can capture the picture of it, so that you can refer to the picture for more details on
which subject or place of the scene is the light focus on most and least. Next, you
4. can look for any movement, whether the actual movement from real life subject or
perceived movement in an image, determining movement in subject will determine
the shape or direction you make your sketch strokes.
These are the steps that involved in producing a basic sketch. Actually sketching
can be simple and yet is an effective way for self-expression. It is also a field that
you and me can express our talent in drawing nor sketching .sketching is an
invaluable tool that can develop person’s observational skills and sometimes relieve
stress of working or studying . it is a personal way to capture the image that you see
in your surrounding, and through sketching, you can put in the natural elements in
an effective way. Like through a final drawing related to natural awareness topic, you
can draw in the natural elements like animals or plants to show more about natural
awareness. In my opinion and to conclude this essay, to produce an attractive sketch,
you must try to minimize your mistakes and fixed your weakness and the most
important of all, not only sketching, but also other work or things that you are doing,
you need to practice always as practice makes prefect.
