Dhanteras is celebrated two days before the festival of Diwali. ‘Dhan’ means wealth and ‘Tera’ means 13th day of the month of Kartik of the Hindu calendar. On this day, prayers are offered to Goddess Luxmi for prosperity and well-being. It marks the onset of celebration of Diwali festival.
