7. Lesson Plan
Warm-Up:
In a teacher run activity the students will use the white board to identify various company logo's
using the iPad Application "Guess the Brand".
Classwork:
Students will be given a KWL Chart and asked to write in their own words or paraphrases what
they think marketing means to them?

Class Video:
Using http://storify.com/mrsharden2012/marketing-101 students will watch the You Tube
video's that will give them a introduction and overview of Marketing and the Four P's of
Marketing. During the video's students should take notes using their KWL chart.
Open Class Discussion:
A teacher lead discussion answering the question: How does marketing effect me in my daily
life?
Closing:
Students will fill in what they learned and turn in their worksheet before leaving class.

10. Lesson Plan
Warm-Up:
Get out a piece of paper and pencil. In 30 seconds write down as many brand names that you can
think of......GO! Count them up and see who has the most. Discuss why they listed the brands that
they did.
Classwork Assignment One:
Students will watch two short video's on Plagiarism and Ethics on the Internet. As a class we will
discuss different ways that you can plagiarize while on the Internet and what they can do to prevent
plagiarism in their research.
Students will use the following curated list to complete a short guided exercise on Plagiarism and

Classwork Assignment Two:
Students will complete their own research on one of three different soft drink companies; CocaCola,
Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper. They will then choose one of the beverages that the company sells and start
their research. The research will be based around the Four Principles of Marketing. The students will
compile their information and create a Glogster to share with the class. Students must cite their
information using the sources from the curated site above.
Homework:
Students will be asked to go home and find FIVE different items in their pantries and explain why they
think that they purchased or like the items that they those.

What kind of sports drinks and soft drinks are appropriate for middle
school students?
How do I market age appropriate beverages to young people?
13. Lesson Plan
Introduction:
Introduce the students to the upcoming project. The students will be creating their own
beverage; sports, soft drink, juice, etc. They will create a company and product name for
the beverage and then use the Four P's of Marketing to create a marketing plan for their
products. Students will also be required to make their marketing pitch align to middle
school students. Their presentation should include information on why the beverage is
appropriate for sale in middle schools in Forsyth County.

Project Based Assessment:
Students will use the information that they have learned in the previous lessons to create a Web 2.0
Presentation that they will present to the class. The presentation will cover the students new product,
the Four P's of Marketing, and the reason why their beverages should be able to be sold in all middle
schools.
Students will go to the following website and choose a web based presentation tool to create their
presentation.
