The Strategic Goal of the Civic Art Program

As the region’s most significant global gateway,
the Houston Airport System and its Civic Art
Program must have the strategic goal of
enhancing the quality of life and visitor
experience for customers and stakeholders by
       acquiring, placing and methodically
  maintaining high quality artistic renderings
        throughout our airport facilities.

                         City Council approved a citywide
ordinance for the percent for art

Houston Airport System complied with its
civic art funding and installation of art in
construction projects until a formal art
program was established in 2006 to focus on

The Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) was created
in 1978 as the Cultural Arts Council of
                         Houston Harris County (CACHH). Its
purpose was to distribute Houston’s Hotel
Occupancy Tax to art organizations and serve
as program manager for the COH art
                         program.
