William Shakespeare
About 26 April 1564 - 23 April 1616 An English poet and playwright.  He was widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist.
Biography At the age of 18, he married 26 year-old Anne Hathaway. He had three children  Susanna Twins Hamnet Judith However, Hamnet died of an unknown cause.
Interesting Facts		 Not known exactly when Shakespeare began writing Records of Shakespeare's property purchases and investments indicate that the company made him a wealthy man.

Time during his years  England was forced into major cultural upheaval for the second time in ten years. England was ruled with an iron fist of a brutal and paranoid Police State.
Influences Shakespeare’s works heavily influenced later poetry.  Until Romeo and Juliet, for example, romance had not been viewed as a worthy topic for tragedy. Shakespeare influenced novelists such as William Faulkner, and Charles Dickens. Shakespeare’s use of language also helped shape modern English.
Theatres  Shakespeare's plays were performed by his own company at the Global Theatre, after the company found themselves in dispute with their landlord.
The Renaissance The Renaissance was a cultural movement that spanned roughly the 14th to the 17th century
Changes Its influence affected literature, philosophy, art, politics, science, religion, and other aspects of intellectual inquiry.
Renaissance in England In England, the Elizabethan era marked the beginning of the English Renaissance It affected the work of writers William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, great artists, architects such as Inigo Jones and also composers such as Thomas Tallis.
