Die gute Nachricht: große deutsche Spendenorganisationen berichten 2014 transparenter über ihre Arbeit als noch vor zwei Jahren. Die Vergleichsstudie "Wirkungstransparenz bei Spendenorganisationen (2014)" beweist, dass alle untersuchten Spendenorganisationen auf ihrer Website oder im Jahresbericht über geleistete Aktivitäten und geplante Maßnahmen informieren. Das ist lobenswert. Weniger erfreulich ist, dass weiterhin nur die wenigsten Organisationen darüber berichten, was sie mit ihren Aktivitäten eigentlich bezwecken: Lediglich bei 20 der 50 Organisationen finden potenzielle SpenderInnen umfassende und systematische Informationen darüber, welche konkreten Ziele die Organisationen verfolgen. Und nur sieben Organisationen liefern leicht auffindbare Hinweise dafür, was sie mit ihren Aktivitäten tatsächlich bewirken. Offenbar sprechen gemeinnützige Organisationen weiterhin lieber darüber, was sie tun, als darüber, warum sie es tun und was sie damit erreichen. Im Vergleich mit der Studie 2012 zeigt sich, dass die zum zweiten Mal analysierten Organisationen durchweg besser abschnitten als noch vor zwei Jahren. Hier sind also deutliche Fortschritte erkennbar.

En el lenguaje cotidiano, al igual que en la física y en la química, el concepto de estado se emplea para describir una situación en la cual se halla un objeto o ser vivo. En estos casos, la palabra está relacionada a una forma de ser o de permanecer. Por otra parte, hay que decir que Estado es una noción con valor a nivel político que sirve para presentar una modalidad de organización de tipo soberana y coercitiva con alcance social. De esta forma, el Estado aglutina a todas las instituciones que poseen la autoridad y la potestad para regular y controlar el funcionamiento de la comunidad dentro una superficie concreta a través de leyes que dictan dichas instituciones y responden a una determinada ideología política. Es importante aclarar que los conceptos de Estado y gobierno no se consideran sinónimos. Los gobernantes son aquellos que, por un tiempo determinado, desempeñan funciones en las instituciones que forman parte del Estado. Además, hay que diferenciar el término Estado de la idea de nación, ya que existen naciones sin Estado y Estados que aglutinan a distintas naciones. Antes, cuando el Estado todavía no había sido constituido como concepto, el ser humano intentaba marcar sus límites por la fuerza, así se realizaron las grandes conquistas a fin de ampliar los límites del territorio. Actualmente, existen medios más pacíficos y democráticos para establecer los límites, aunque a decir verdad, todavía continúa utilizándose la fuerza para delimitarlos. Es importante señalar que ninguna persona puede vivir sin Estado ya que deberá cumplir con lo reglado en el territorio que habita, aunque éste no sea necesariamente su nación. Esto no significa que todos los individuos que comparten un mismo estado se sientan culturalmente identificados con él, pero esa no es razón para violar las leyes del espacio que habitan. Para que un Estado pueda ser considerado como tal debe contar con ciertos elementos, estos son: territorio delimitado, población, leyes, organismos de gobierno, soberanía interna (poder para aplicar las propias leyes dentro del territorio sin necesidad de que interfieran otros estados) y soberanía externa (convocar a sus pobladores cuando existiera un ataque exterior a fin de defender su territorio).

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
