2. This Island was fantastic to visit, it took my breath away
from the moment I set eyes on it. The palm trees are
huge and tower over the glistening water that draws me
in so temptingly. I needed so much self control to stop
myself plummeting into to it to cool off and take a break
from the intense heat. I was surrounded by beautiful
dolphins that dived in sync with each other splashing me
as they hit the water.
3. I next ventured into the village where the people were
lovely. By now I was starving but they directed me to a
fantastic beach café where I was served the national
dish- stuffed pineapple which consists of a chopped
pineapple stuffed with various ingredients. The flavours
danced on my pallet allowing me to indulge in each
ingredient. I then had a drink of beach belini which I
was recommended by the person sitting opposite me. It
had a fresh sort of taste and left you feeling thirsty for
moor.
4. I left the beach café and approached a crowd of men and
women in brightly coloured shorts and t-shirts. They
were huddled round one man who began to climb the
tallest palm tree in Zambini. They were all cheering him
on so I joined in. Little did I know what was going to
happen next. When he reached the top he crouched
down then sprung off of the palm tree doing an amazing
somersault in the air. His body then narrowed into a
streamline shape as he dived into the water with
elegance. We followed his body as he swam through a
tube passing all sorts of tropical fish. I heard someone
behind me scream that he has received Gold medal for
his dive, it was then that I realised it was the national
sport.
5. I strolled back into town passing a procession on the
way. Men, women and children marched with flags
bellowing out the national anthem as they went, “Go
Zambini” was all I heard because I was so busy focusing
on the bold flag with an orange and blue background
holding two dolphins standing proudly on their tales
facing each other. Although I had only been here for an
hour I could tell this was strong community who shared
a delightful atmosphere.
