9. Mind mapping
Mind Maps are Your Secret Weapon to Success
Making a Mind Map is Fun!
Just remember these six easy steps.
1. Start in the Center of a blank piece of paper turned sideways (landscape)
2. Quickly sketch an image (no bigger than your fist) of your MAIN TOPIC in the
Center
3. Use at least 3 COLORS in the center and many different COLORS for
emphasis, structure, creativity and fun!
4. Draw some thick, curved connected lines from the picture, one for each of
the main ideas you have
5. Name each of these ideas and, if you want, draw a little picture – This uses
both sides of your brain. Words are underlined throughout. This is because they
are key words and the underlining, as in normal notes, shows their importance.
6. From each of these ideas, you can draw other connected lines, spreading out
like the branches of a tree. Add you thoughts on each of these branches (these
additional Branches represent the details).
10. Follow up discussion to Mind
Mapping
How do you feel now that you know a little about each
other?
How do you think this will help you as a leader?
What did you find you had in common with other
people?
What else would you like to know about each other?
Did you find it easier to remember each other’s names?
