French Impressionism

By: Jase Bennett
How it all began

 French impressionism all began in the mid 19th
century when art was moving from a more
traditional art to a new style of painting that that
had long brush strokes and much more vibrant
  colors.

 This style of art started in France, but later spread
  all throughout Europe.
Defining
impressionism
The reason they call it French
 Impressionism is because of
Claude Monet’s painting that
he named impression sunrise.

Claude Monet’s piece of work
was widely criticized by news
papers, which is what began
  the new movement of art.

Claude took this criticism and
used it as motivation to keep
painting in this new style, far
much different than anything
 anyone has ever seen before
Anonymous society of
          Painters
 A group of painters “including Claude Monet” gathered
together to form a group that would paint in this new
  style of art.
 The new strange looking art caused a sensation that took
off, causing the French Impressionism period of time.
 Their style of painting showed how one individual might
see something. Painting things in all sort of colors was
common. The idea was to feel free to paint what you
want, not to let your imagination be restricted.
 This group of painters stuck together to be good. friends
all throughout their lives. Claude Monet survived the
  longest dying in 1926.
Claude Monet

  Claude Monet was born in
Paris in 1840. He is the
  founder of Impressionism
styles of painting. He formed
a group where him and other
artist such as Camille Pissaro,
  Alfred Sisley, and Frederic
            Bazille.
    This group of painters
   banded together to paint
 some of the most influential
     paintings of all times.
Camille
      Pissarro
Pissarro was a close friend of
Claude’s. His paintings were
  mostly of rural and urban
   scenery. His work was
  admired by many, and in
2005 some of his most famous
 paintings sold for millions.
   Camille was one of the
  primary developers of the
impressionistic techniques in
          painting.
Frederic
        Bazille
  Frederic was born in France
   in the 1940’s. He attended
 school but later dropped out
to pursue a career in art.
  While following his passion
in art, he met Claude and
  many others and joined the
group of French Impressionist
artist. He lived a very short
life. Dying at the young age of
     29 when fighting in the
      Franco-Prussian War.
Claude Monet’s Paintings

Claude Monet painted mostly pictures of
nature with exotic colors that critiques
   believed were not natural.
French Impressionisms
         Conclusion
 With the Industrial Revolution was taking off,
France was becoming a place of new and innovative
ideas. People were becoming much more open
minded, which led to the beginning of the French
Impressionism era. The new style of paintings
would have a huge impact on art. The more
traditional art styles were then being replaced with
this more colorful style of art.
