2. INTRODUCTION
My grandparents worked in a bar, a job
which has not changed much up to now.
I decided to investigate two works that
were popular in the past and have now
nearly disappeared. I hope you like it
3. SHARPENER
The sharpener was the person who went across
the city on his bike or motorcycle to sharpen
instruments such as knives or scissors. They
were also responsible for mending umbrellas
and sharpening pencils.
In the mid-twentieth century, sharpeners began
to settle in large cities. With the arrival of
capitalism, based on consumption in Spain, the
craft was lost. Today, in some countries it is still
a job like any other.
4. Did you know ..?
Until not long ago, the sharpener carried
his tools on a bicycle or motorcycle.
In modern times, throughout the twentieth
century, sharpeners tended to settle in
urban areas such as markets or streets.
They moved around the streets of the city
or town and announced their arrival with a
small flute or a whistle.
6. BLACKSMITH
He was the person who created objects
from iron or steel by forging the metal.
With the arrival of the industrial revolution,
smiths leave some villages to be only in
certain populations. They have lately
nearly disappeared.
7. Did you know ..?
Blacksmiths work by heating the parts of iron or
steel. They model them with tools like hammers.
A blacksmith with enough experience can work
refined-looking products that combine talent and
originality.
One of the special tasks of some blacksmiths
involves nailing or putting horse shoes on
horses' hooves. These workers are known as
farriers.
