Dear Sirs:
‘Strategic vision with global tactical experience’ describes my skillset and this appears to be an excellent fit for
your current career opportunity. My accomplishments in domestic and international logistics projects and supply
chain operations have brought repeated profits. As an executive and team leader it is my pleasure to offer my
professional skills for your consideration.
My formal & professional education beyond my B.A. includes certifications in global supply chain management by
APICS, Six Sigma (both Green and Black Belt) certification, and as a certified dispute Mediator [under the
California Alternative Dispute Resolution Act.] My work style is to be prepared and be anticipative, coupled with
being ‘people-first oriented.’ My activity model is to be focused upon everyone on the team supporting all goals
and objectives. By embracing cross-cultural management styles coupled with mutually beneficial and profitable
policies, my teams focus on projects and programs with the Customer’s requirements at the forefront. Described
in short: “Dedication to the Mission as defined by the Customer.” All of this has been linked to job know-how,
and validated further by targeted leading KPIs.
What do I offer? Clear understanding of inventory planning and control programs, cash flow management and
reliable operations are the key metrics. The results of building a true T.E.A.M.1
Proof is in the situational
awareness focused upon unification of purpose, creative leveraging the strengths of each participant, and thereby
achieving a ‘greater whole’. Some of the goals achieved include:
Through the use of a cross-functional analysis, including with 3PL and 4PL business partners, the supply chain team
identified redundancy, drilled down to root causes, found ways and means to guarantee reliability at lower costs.
Created and documented work processes where none previously existed. Using the Six Sigma Green-belt skills,
process reliability & performance growth was confirmed. Follow up of every element was also critical to success.
Continuous communications, up and down the value chain, provided validation and resolved delays. Costs were also
reduced. Team members that had never met at any time respectfully joined in the ‘buy in’¸ and achieved less waste
and rationalized (e.g. “leaned up”) the total ‘value chain’. 2
By matching dedicated associates with appropriate resources the result was clear goal accomplishment. Having
implemented ERP systems, led S&OP teams, controlled activities in multiple countries, I believe I can contribute even
more. Group recognition of our proactive ‘groundwork’ was an additional welcomed reward by everyone.
For these reasons I am submitting my candidacy for your consideration.
Sincerely,
James G. “Jay” Shaw III, CSCP (714) 875-6546 - Cell

‘Value Chain” = If it does not add value why is someone wasting time dealing with it?
