This document describes the Global City 2.0 initiative, which aims to create a worldwide network of civic groups and individuals focused on the role of cities in social and economic development. The initiative is promoted by the Portuguese civic group Cidades pela Retoma and uses a blog to map over 230 existing blogs and sites from civic groups in over 15 countries. Global City 2.0 seeks more partnerships and participation to further develop the network and resources, with the goal of organizing an international meeting in 2012.

the network can be an important opportunity to join
‘city civic movements’ from different countries and
cultures, interested people and concerned institutions
