Reviving the One who has
Gone Astray!
Isa 38:16 O Lord, by these things
men live, and in all these is the life
of my spirit. Oh, restore me to
health and make me live!

What a wonderful study we
have had!
After one is restored, then what?
●The questions that we want to ask & answer in
this study are?
–How do we bring them back to a place of
contentment in God’s glory?
–What is needed to keep in back on track?
–How can we get them to regain their focus after
they have fallen?

Let’s begin by defining what
we mean by “reviving!”
Reviving = to restore to life; to bring back;
to renew (Oxford)
●How many of you have heard of
someone who has drowned being revived?
What does this mean?
●It is of the upmost importance that
they be brought back to life!

As it is the case that Baptism is
not the end but the beginning, it
is also the case that when one is
restored, this is not where the
work end, but begins!
●The one that has come back is going to
need us even more now than ever!
●The weak need strength from the
strong!

I. Conquering the Hurt!
Ro 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than
conquerors through Him who loved us.
●One of the saddest things I have seen
in the church is the way that people
sometime act towards the fallen!!!
●If someone has not been to services in
6 months, then they do not need us
jumping all over then, they need
us to comfort them!!!

What the fallen need is for the
strong to become their strength!
●It is often very difficult for one to come
back when they may have left on bad
terms, and we need to be ready to receive
them with open arms & forgiveness!
–Mt 18:22 I do not say to you, up to seven
times, but up to seventy times seven.
–God of all comfort! 2 Cor. 1:3-4

II. Committed to Help!
●Even when the fallen realize they are
in a restored relationship with God, they
are going to need our help!
●There maybe consequences from their
actions while they were gone & we
need to be willing and able to help!
●1 Thess 5:11 Therefore comfort
each other and edify one another,
just as you also are doing.

One thing I know for sure is
that I couldn’t have made it
without help, from God & others!
●Heb 13:6 So we may boldly say: "The LORD
is my helper; I will not fear. What can man
do to me?"
●Rom 15:1 We who are strong have an
obligation to bear with the failings of the
weak, and not to please ourselves!

III. Conscious of Heaven!
This world is “not” our home, the best is yet
to come for the Christian!!!
●The fallen need to learn to “keep their eyes
on the prize!” All of us do!
–Php 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to
have apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and
reaching forth unto those things which are
before, I press toward the mark
for the prize of the high calling of
God in Christ Jesus.

This life is only perfect for it’s
purpose, to get us to see our
need for Jesus!
●2Co 5:1 For we know that if the earthly
tent we live in is destroyed, we have a
building from God, a house not made with
hands, eternal in the heavens.
●2Co 5:8 We are of good courage, and we
would rather be away from the body
and at home with the Lord.

●There is indeed a need in the church to be
aware of the fallen!
●Let’s not forget about one another, let’s go
home together!
●If you are here and you have fallen, then
we pray you will get back up on your feet
and keep moving in the right direction!
●We are better together!
