The Power of One!
Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:1-9)
●This is likely the greatest account of unity you
will ever find, but for the wrong reasons!
●There is a statement here made by God that
we often only us of God!
–Gen. 11:6 And the LORD said, "Indeed the
people are one and they all have one language,
and this is what they begin to do; now nothing
that they propose to do will be withheld from
them.
–See Mt. 19:26; Lk. 1:37 & etc.

The Greatest Danger the Church
Faces is “Itself!”
●Gal. 5:14-15 For all the law is fulfilled in one word,
even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as
yourself." But if you bite and devour one another,
beware lest you be consumed by one another!
●This was indeed the problem in Corinth!
–1 Cor. 1:10-13; 3:1-9
–Often we fail to notice “why” this was so
important for them to understand!
●1 Cor 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were
called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord.

I. The Basis!
1 Cor. 1:9-10 God is faithful, by whom you were
called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord. Now I plead with you, brethren, by the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak
the same thing, and that there be no divisions
among you, but that you be perfectly joined
together in the same mind and in the same
judgment.
●This is the “basis” of Christian fellowship!
–Speak same things, joined together, same
mind and same judgment!

Both vertical & horizontal!
1 Jn 1:3-7 that which we have seen and heard we
declare to you, that you also may have fellowship
with us; and truly our fellowship is with the
Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these
things we write to you that your joy may be full.
This is the message which we have heard from
Him and declare to you, that God is light and in
Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have
fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie
and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the
light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with
one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son
cleanses us from all sin.

II. The Benefits!
Both physical and spiritual!
●The child of God is blessed to be able to
enjoy both physical and spiritual
communion with God and others!
●As we come together, we are blessed
both physically and spiritually!
●I need you, you need me and we all
need Jesus!

We are in this together!
● Gal. 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in
any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such
a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering
yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one
another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of
Christ.
● Heb 10:24-25 And let us consider one
another in order to stir up love and good
works, not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as is the manner of some,
but exhorting one another, and so much the
more as you see the Day approaching.

III. The Barriers!
Are there any restrictions to this fellowship?
●Now, I do not plan to spend too much
time on this now, because next month we
will in great detail address “the danger of
fellow-shipping the world!”
●Yet, it is important that we understand
one cannot be together with God and at
the same time together with the world!
●These are mutually exclusive!

With God it has always been “all or
nothing!”
●Mk. 12:30 “And you shall love the LORD
your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your mind, and with all your
strength. This is the first commandment.”
●God does not accept half-hearted service!
●This is important for us to keep in mind
when addressing the “barriers” of
togetherness/fellowship!

In the world but not of the world!
● Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with
the unfruitful works of darkness, but
rather expose them.
● 2 Cor 6:14-16(a) Do not be unequally
yoked together with unbelievers. For
what fellowship has righteousness with
lawlessness? And what communion has
light with darkness? And what accord
has Christ with Belial?

Conclusion:
●We are all “better together!”
●Are we living “together” with God, are
we living “together” with one another?
●Have you come to join the “Fellowship of
Faith?” Have you come to trust God with
your salvation? If not, then today is the
day to take hold of the hand of Jesus and
begin walking with Him!
●Remember to keep holding hands
through life’s journey!
