“Climate Change”
ABOUT US
International Community Organisation of Sunderland
We work to improve the quality of life of minority ethnic
groups in the North East England. We want to change their
negative im-age in media, political debates as well as how
they are seen by local people. We want our community to
live better and easier on a daily basis. We also work to im-
prove cooperation between the different communities. We
co-run “The Sustainable Sunderland Programme” which
aims at understanding how much the way we live our daily
lives impact on the environment, and the relationship be-
tween it and our quality of life and what we spend for it.
We are thinking about what we can do to help our environ-
ment and improve our quality of life at the same time.
There is no denying that Climate Change is one of the most
used terms since the early 2000s. Indeed, the world has to
face several changes such as global warming, the
Greenhouse effect or pollution. In addition, our aim today
is to help people realize that it is high time to change our
way of living by knowing more about Climate change. In
order to do this we will provide you some information
about this disaster so why not reading our newsletter?

2. The Causes of the Climate Change
Definition: Climate change is the long-term shift in weather patterns in a specific
region or globally. Unlike global warming, which refers to just one aspect of
climate change - a rise in the surface temperature of the earth’s surface – cli-
mate change refers to changes in a regions overall weather patterns, including
precipitation, temperatures, cloud cover.
What triggered Climate Changes:
 The Greenhouse Effect which consist of trapping the heat of the Earth into the
atmosphere and then releasing it in every direction.
 The burning of fossil fuels such as coil or natural gases that are released into the
atmosphere which allows the gas layer to get thicker and thicker.
 Pollution: Even though you are not aware of it, even small actions can contribute to
the Climate Change such as car engines that are still turned on in traffic jams, or
people who throw batteries or refrigerators in the nature.
Its impact:
The Climate Change impact concern each of us whoever we are and wherever we live.
One of the main consequences are the fact that the sea level is getting higher and
higher which triggers floods, the extermination of animals like polar bears, due to
the fact that icebergs and icecaps are melting, or drought in places that have never
suffered from it.
Climate Change which is triggered by our everyday life actions contributes to the Global
warming that put us a in great danger today and of courses for the next generations of
people that will suffer from our foolishness.

3. What can be done?
What we have to offer you is pretty easy and affordable for everyone.
 Be aware of waste. Do not let or throw batteries, refrigerators, microwaves into the
nature.
 You can try saving water bill by reducing your consumption which is good for your
budget but also for the environment.
 If traffic jams are taking forever you can turn off your engine, the air will lighter and
there will be fewer and fewer gases.
 You can also use bulbs that need less energy.
 If you’re going somewhere which is not very far away from where you are living, do
think of using your bicycle, taking the bus or just walking, it is better for your
health and for the climate.
Climate Change is dangerous because of its impacts on the weather we don’t
know what tomorrow has in store for us. By being careful all together we can live
in a better world without spending a lot of money.
