ANDROID PHONES
 Android is a mobile operating platform owned by Google, and one of
the main competitors to the iPhone, which runs on iOS. Android
Inc. was founded in 2003 in Palo Alto, Calif., and bought by Google in
2005. It is a complete mobile phone software stack, overseen by
the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of companies created in 2007.
The first version of Android was released in September 2008. It has been
updated several times since then, with each round named after a
dessert or snack. Cupcake (v1.5), Donut (v1.6) and Eclair (v2.0) were
released in 2009. Froyo (v.2.3) and Gingerbread (v2.4) came out in 2010,
followed by Honeycomb (v3.0) in May of 2011. Version 4.0, Ice Cream
Sandwich, was released in October 2011, and is still in the process of
    being integrated into new handsets.

ANDROID
 Android is the world's most popular mobile platform. With Android you
can use all the Google apps you know and love, plus there are more
than 600,000 apps and games available on Google Play to keep you
entertained, alongside millions of songs and books, and thousands of
movies. Android devices are already smart, and will only get smarter,
with new features you won't find on any other platform, letting you
focus on what's important and putting you in control of your mobile
    experience.
 Android's user interface is based on direct manipulation, using touch
inputs that loosely correspond to real-world actions, like swiping,
tapping, pinching and reverse pinching to manipulate on-screen
objects. The response to user input is designed to be immediate and
provides a fluid touch interface, often using the vibration capabilities of
the device to provide haptic feedback to the user.

ANDROID
 Widgets - Put the important stuff right within reach and interact
with your favorite apps directly from your home screen with
widgets — see the latest sport scores, view your favorite photos,
check the weather or peek at your inbox all without having to
open different apps or leave the home screen.

ANDROID FEATURES
 Notifications - An easy-to-read notification tray gives you quick
access to your calls, incoming texts, and new emails in a non-
    intrusive way.

ANDROID FEATURES
 Multi-tasking - With Android, you can quickly and seamlessly
switch between apps and pick up whatever you were doing.
Juggling multiple tasks at once on a mobile device has never been
    easier.

ANDROID FEATURES
 Voice typing and actions - Control your Android device with your
voice. Simply touch the microphone on the keyboard and start
talking to write emails, SMS, or any other text — more than 30
languages supported. Text appears in real time, so there’s no
    waiting.

ANDROID FEATURES
 Photos and videos - Capture special moments with great photos
and videos, explore your shots and quickly share your favorites in
    any way that you want.

ANDROID FEATURES
 Android powers devices from some of the best handset and
tablet manufacturers in the world, like Samsung, HTC, Motorola,
Sony, Asus and more. Android devices come in all shapes and
sizes, with vibrant high-resolution displays and cameras, giving
you the flexibility to choose the one that’s just right for you. Flip-
out keyboard or on-screen, from smart phone to tablet and at
every possible price point, there’s an Android device for
everyone. Android lets you choose the best smart phones and
tablets through a global partnership network of over 300 carriers
    in over 169 countries.
