The document outlines a proposal for a comedy sitcom about two characters on a blind date. It would follow them as they start talking and learning about each other, causing them both to panic about normal things the other says and imagine life together and how terrible it could be.
The proposal discusses targeting the show toward 16-25 year olds in London, both male and female. It estimates a budget of £49,305 over three weeks of writing, recording, and editing. Health and safety precautions and legal issues like copyright clearance are also addressed.
2. For my programme I want to create a comedy sitcom which is based
around two characters who meet for the first time for a date, after
being set up by friends. As they start talking and begin learning about
each other, they start panicking over normal things the other person
would say and start imagine life with them and how terrible it would
be.
My Idea
3. Why a comedy sitcom?
During my Primary Audience
research I conducted a survey
to release more then half of
the people who took my
survey watch comedy
programmes. However the
programmes they were asked
to list that the enjoyed had
nothing in common, which
indicated that audiences
where open to all types of
comedy programmes.
4. Target Audience
• Aged16- 25 year olds
• For both male and female
• My audience will mostly be London based
• Audience will either be studying in college or university and also
people who are working class (earning £100,000 a year an below)
7. Talent & Production Crew
Talent:
- 2 Males
- 2 Females
Production Crew:
- Director
- Producer
- Script writer
- Camera man
- Lighting men
- Sound men
- Floor manger
- Makeup and hair
8. Budget
In total to fully finish my comedy sitcom it will take a full three weeks.
The first week will be for the script writer director and producer to
discuss the storyline and finalise the script of the show, pick the talent
and organise the sets and rent equipment.
The second week will consist of recording and final week will consist of
editing. All three weeks will cost me £49,305, £5,405 for week one,
£36,575 for week two and £7,370 for week 3.
9. Health & Safety & Copyright
Legal situations I that can occur for me when making this TV programme is
copyright issues, for example using someone else’s idea or copy an already
existing show’s idea and storyline. Another copyright issues is when using
music I need to make sure that I have permission to use it and it has been
cleared by the record label or artist that I am allowed to use the track on my
programme.
Health and safety, a codes of practice come under ethical issues, as I want my
show to be a studio based show with a live audience there are precautions that
will have to be taken for the audience member’s safety. For this there will be a
video telling the audience members what to epact and do in case of things such
as a fire, or if they suddenly feel unwell, there will be a paramedic on standby.
