18. Choosing your theme Should be a topic of interest to your audience Should be something that you can illustrate with photos Should NOT be a topic you have already used (no repeats of podcast topics) Think about a strategy: Day in the life Top 10 list Ideas for doing something A “how to” guide

19. Getting the photos Pick your theme FIRST Contact sources who might have ideas Go to an event that may help you illustrate your theme DO NOT pose pictures; subjects must be acting naturally

Captions Should give identifying information First & last name Ages Other info (hometown, major, year, etc.) Should include a description of what is happening in the picture and/or how the subject in the picture relates to your theme Don’t need to identify people when there are more than 3 in the shot No more than 2-3 lines Good grammar, AP Style, spelling

Gallery specifics You must use your own photos Photos should reflect a theme All photos should feature detailed captions Galleries should contain 8-12 photos Photos should adhere to good photography principles included in the virtual lecture and photo field trip Take photos all horizontally – varying them up will look weird in Soundslides
