ITINERARY
Day 1: Sunday 05 May 2013 - Arrive in Helsinki
What better place to start your Eurovision campaign than in Helsinki, host city of the
2007 contest thanks to heavy metal masters Lordi who finally broke the long drought for
Finland. Make your own way from the airport to the city centre or take advantage of one
of our private car transfers. After checking in to your hotel you will enjoy a welcome
dinner with your fellow Eurovision fans (just remember to keep those fierce national
rivalries in check until the
contest itself).
Day 2: Monday 06 May 2013 – Helsinki
See the highlights of Helsinki on a morning tour. Travelling in a private coach with an
English speaking guide, you will pass Senate Square, the university and the Lutheran
Cathedral, some of the city’s finest examples of 1840s neoclassical architecture. Continue
2. to the colourful Market Square, Kaivopuisto Park, the statue of Marshall Mannerheim,
the Parliament Building, Finlandia Hall and the Sibelius Monument. Last stop is the
Temppeliaukio Church, a truly remarkable building carved into solid rock. Spend the rest
of the day exploring Finland’s vibrant capital at your leisure.
Day 3: Tuesday 07 May 2013 - Helsinki - Tallinn
Transfer to the pier after breakfast for your ferry to Tallinn, Estonia’s lively capital and
the host of the Eurovision Song Contest way back in 2002. Transfer to your hotel on
arrival then enjoy a walking tour of Tallinn’s Old Town, one of the best preserved in
Europe. Highlights include the impressive Toompea Castle, St Mary’s Church, the Holy
Ghost Church and the collection of icons at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Spend the
rest of the day at your leisure – you might like to take in a concert or show off your
Eurovision dance moves at one of Tallinn’s legendary nightclubs.
Day 4: Wednesday 08 May 2013 - Tallinn – Riga
Bid farewell to Tallinn and cross the border into Latvia. Stop for lunch before continuing
to Riga, the city where Turkish pop-star Sertab Erener upset controversial Russian duo
t.A.T.u to win the 2003 Eurovision crown.
Day 5: Thursday 09 May 2013 - Riga - Stockholm
Enjoy a three-hour tour of Riga by private coach. Pass Kalku Street, the medieval
buildings of Liva Square, St Peter’s Church, Konventhof, the House of the Brotherhood
of Blackheads, the Dome Cathedral, the Stock Exchange, Riga Castle and some of the
city’s famous guild houses before exploring the renowned Riga Market. Later on we
transfer to the pier and board an overnight ferry to Stockholm.
Day 6: Friday 10 May 2013 - Stockholm
Disembark in Stockholm this morning and take a transfer to your hotel. Enjoy an
afternoon tour of Sweden’s beautiful capital, walking through the narrow streets of the
Old Town to see the 700-year-old cathedral, the Stortorget (Great Square) and the City
Hall, where the Nobel Prize banquet takes place. Board a canal boat for a cruise along the
peaceful Djurgaarden Canal then spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 7: Saturday 11 May 2013 – Stockholm
Stockholm is famous for producing one of Eurovision’s genuine superstars – 1974
winners ABBA – as well as last year’s champion Loreen. Spend the whole day soaking
up this breathtaking city’s charms at your leisure. You might like to take a cruise through
the stunning Stockholm Archipelago before hitting one of the city’s renowned nightclubs
or finding a karaoke bar where you can impress the locals with your own rendition of
‘Waterloo’.
3. Day 8: Sunday 12 May 2013 - Stockholm – Copenhagen
Depart Stockholm and transfer by private coach to Copenhagen, our home for the next
week. Copenhagen is the city of choice for Eurovision fans this year – it boasts a plethora
of bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels, and is only a 15-minute train ride from the
Eurovision arena in Malmo (via the famous Oresund Bridge between Denmark and
Sweden). Check in to your hotel on arrival late this afternoon and spend the evening
however you like – we strongly suggest crossing the bridge to Malmo to watch the
Eurovision stars walking the red carpet at the official welcome party.
Day 9: Monday 13 May 2013 – Copenhagen
Depart our hotel by private coach accompanied by guide, for a 5 hours Lund and Malmo
Tour. We cross the Bridge of Oeresund to head to Lund, a city where a thousand years of
history blends with modern knowledge and visions. From there the tour continues to
Malmo, the third biggest city of Sweden and host to Eurovision 2013. The streets of
Malmo are set to come alive this week with open-air performances by Eurovision stars
past and present. Once the tour finishes you can choose to stay in Malmo or head back to
Copenhagen. The official Eurovision party runs every night at the ‘Euroclub’ in Folkets
Park – the best place in town to hear non-stop pop music and rub shoulders with the stars.
Nightclubs across Malmo and Copenhagen will also be hosting special Eurovision nights
and live concerts, meaning that your next dose of kitsch is never far away. And tonight
there is a sneak preview of this year’s songs, with a dress rehearsal of the first semifinal
today. Dress rehearsals give each country’s national jury a chance to assess the
performances.
Day 10: Tuesday 14 May 2013 - Copenhagen
We begin the day with the perfect introduction to “wonderful Copenhagen” on a 3 hour
city tour taking in all of this city’s sights including Rosenborg Palace, Tivoli Gardens and
the Little Mermaid. In the afternoon you may wish to head back to Malmo. Of course
tonight is the first semi-final of Eurovision 2013. The arena will be overflowing with
national pride as more than 15,000 people cheer (and jeer) the singers vying for a spot in
Saturday night’s grand finale.
Day 11: Wednesday 15 May 2013 - Copenhagen
Enjoy the day at your leisure – you might like to take in some of Copenhagen’s splendid
architecture, hit up a few design stores or treat yourself to a meal in one of the city’s
countless Michelin-starred restaurants.
4. Day 12: Thursday 16 May 2013 – Copenhagen
Spend another day discovering Copenhagen’s delights at your own pace. While away a
few hours in a cosy cafe, cruise around the city centre on a share bike (they’re free!) or
pay a visit to Denmark’s most famous lady – no, we’re not talking about Princess Mary,
but the iconic statue of the Little Mermaid. Tonight is the second Eurovision semi-final to
see who fills the remaining spots on the roster for European music’s night of nights.
Day 13: Friday 17 May 2013 - Copenhagen
Explore Copenhagen at your own pace today. We highly recommend visiting Nørrebro’s
independent fashion boutiques or investigating Christiania – a self-proclaimed
autonomous neighbourhood populated by alternative types. Today is the dress rehearsal
of the Eurovision final.
Day 14: Saturday 18 May 2013 – Copenhagen
Finally, the day has arrived! Excitement will be mounting throughout Copenhagen and
Malmo as both cities prepare for the final this evening. Spend the day relaxing before
putting on your best Euro-garb and making your way to Malmo to take your seat in the
arena. Over several glamour-packed hours, you’ll laugh at the hosts’ carefully scripted
‘jokes’, weep along with every power ballad, proudly wave the flag of your adopted (or
actual) homeland, and scream with outrage as the popular votes come in from across the
continent. After the winner is crowned, you can party on with your fellow pop fans or
return to the hotel to dream about next year’s contest.
Day 15: Sunday 19 May 2013 - Copenhagen - Departure
Take the edge off your post-Eurovision hangover with a buffet breakfast. Then it’s time
to make your own way to the airport, where our Eurovision odyssey comes to an end.
