CALASIAO 2010 Anti-Dengue Fever Activities
1. DENGUE FEVER Dengue Fever is a viral disease characterized by sudden onset of fever of 38 C and above, lasting for 5 days or more. This is accompanied by muscle or joint pains, appearance of petecchiae of the arms, body, feet and legs, positive tourniquet test and/or thrombocytopenia or low platelet count of less than 100,000/cu.mm. The most important way to prevent and control Dengue Fever is to eliminate favorable sites of the Aedes mosquitoes. This can be done by maintaining cleanliness of the surroundings and discarding containers that collect water suitable for breeding. Fumigation and/or use of larvicides may be necessary to reduce mosquito density in the community. 5. RESPONSE ACTIVITIES PROMOTION AND INFORMATION /EDUCATION COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN Regular reports/updates to Mayor Roy T. Macanlalay and other LGU officials on the Dengue Fever situation in Calasiao and on the interventions being implemented.
6. RESPONSE ACTIVITIES PROMOTION AND INFORMATION /EDUCATION COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN The MHO updating the members of the SangguniangBayan on the Dengue situation in Calasiao.
7. RESPONSE ACTIVITIES PROMOTION AND INFORMATION /EDUCATION COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN The BHWs of Calasiao, being at the forefront of health service delivery, are regularly updated on the Dengue Fever. The emphasis is always on the important role of early detection and referral of suspect Dengue Fever cases and the importance of cleanliness and environmental sanitation in the fight against Dengue.
8. RESPONSE ACTIVITIES PROMOTION AND INFORMATION /EDUCATION COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN The MHO meet with the Barangay Captains to ask for their support on the activities that were planned to combat Dengue Fever in the town of Calasiao.

RESPONSE ACTIVITIES PROMOTION AND INFORMATION /EDUCATION COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN The MHO and the health staff conduct lectures about Dengue Fever for concerned agencies and other sectors of the community such as the DepEd. This aims to give the necessary information for them to impart to others as part of the community effort to control Dengue Fever in Calasiao.
10. RESPONSE ACTIVITIES PROMOTION AND INFORMATION /EDUCATION COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN The LGU and other agencies conduct municipal-wide cleanliness campaigns to increase public awareness on the importance of proper environment sanitation in the fight against Dengue Fever.
