Use of Propaganda
- Dr. Joseph Goebbels was in
  charge of propaganda for
  Hitler. You could only
read, see and hear what the
  Nazis wanted you to.
  Books and films released
  to the public concentrated
  on certain issues :
- The Jews, The greatness
of Hitler, The way of life for
  a true Nazi.
- The majority of propaganda
  use was mostly targeted at
  children and were taught at
  a young age Jews were
  bad.
Exploitation of the Crisis 1930-33
           • 1929-1930 Great Depression
           • 1930 Hitler junior branches
             established
           • September 1920 The Nazi party
             gained 18.3% of the Reichstag
             election votes
           • July 1932 became largest party
             (37.4%)
           • 3 Feb 1933 HITLER BECAME
             LEADER
Loss of World War 1 and terms of the
            treaty of Versailles
• Hitler said how he wanted
  to abolish the Treaty.
  Many Germans agreed
with this so they voted for
  him. This was because the
  treaty of Versailles took
  away many things from
  Germany mainly money
and the right to an army.
  Treaty of Versailles had
  four aspects.
  Land, Reparations, War
  Guilt and Military
Hitler learns from his time in jail

 • During his sentence in
    prison, he had time to
  develop and organise his
 ideas. He studied mistakes
 made by previous rulers so
     he could find better
solutions. Meanwhile he also
 wrote a book called “Mein
   Kampf” (My Struggles)
Germany's Glory Days And The Belief
In The Power Of The Empire

                 After World War
                 1, Germany was
                 struggling. Hitler
                 promised to restore the
                 power in Germany and
                 to bring back the spirit
                 in the beginning.
Widespread Distrust Of The Jewish
          Population
                • Throughout the
                  holocaust, Hilter
                  blamed the innocent
                  Jewish people for many
                  things, which caused
                  people to turn against
                  them and do what
                  Hilter ordered. Kill all
                  the Jews.
Weimar Republic - weak and divided
• The Weimar Republic was established after World
War I. This was a weak democracy that was
always associated with the Treaty of
Versailles. Hitler managed to exploit the
weaknesses of the Republic and play on peoples
desires for a strong government that could solve
  Germany's many problems. Interestingly Hitler
was elected into power as in late 1932 his Nazi
Party was the largest party in the Weimar
Republic. Once invited to form a government by
Hindenburg he then sort to use his power to
  establish a dictatorship.
Wall Street Crash and the Great
                 Depression
• Because of the Nazi party‘s views on
  anti-capitalism, the Nazi party used
the Wall Street Crash and the Great
  Depression to their advantage.
  When the American Stock Exchange
collapsed, America called in all of its
  foreign loans, which destroyed
  Weimar Germany. Unemployment in
  Germany rose to 6 million.
Economic Chaos and hyper-inflation
         of early 1920's
         • The hyperinflation in the Weimar
Republic was a three year period
between June 1921 and July 1924.
After losing WWI. Germany had to
           pay huge amounts of reparations
because of the Treaty of Versailles
           which they manage to eventually.
The allies did not believe this, and
           invaded Germans most valuable
           industrial area. The economy
           started to suffer since workers
           couldn’t produce goods. To repair
           the economy Germany started to
           print money.
Hitler's personality and skills
• Hitler's skills as a
  powerful persuasive
  speaker helped him to
  manipulated Germany
  into believing what he
  said. He was well
  organised and had
  many qualities of a
  good leader.
Use of Violence

        • Hitler's willingness to
          use violence to get
          what he wanted led
          to a twelve-year
          reign and sparked a
          war that led to the
          deaths of some fifty
          million people.
Creation Of The Nazi Party 1920

• The German army sent Adolf Hitler to spy on
the original group created by Anton Drexler.
He was impressed by Hitler's ability to talk so
he made him join. Later he managed to bribe
and convince people to join. He also renamed
the group called the Nazi Party and eventually
  became the leader.
Ideology linked to what the people
     wanted / widespread appeal
• By Portraying a world • His idea’s sound
where everything was back more appealing
  on track……………. to his audience
                                which makes his
                                speech more
                                persuasive. This
                                helped Hitler's
                                rise.
