El empresario ruso Moshe Kantor fue reelegido
para un nuevo mandato de cuatro años como
presidente del Congreso Judío Europeo (EJC), la
organización elegida democráticamente que re-
presenta los judíos europeos.
Kantor se impuso con el 73 por ciento de los votos, a
Richard Prasquier, presidente del Consejo Represen-
tativo de las Instituciones Judías de Francia (CRIF),
que sólo obtuvo el 27 por ciento de los sufragios.
«No podemos dormirnos en los laureles», dij o
Kantor después de la votación. «Hay muchos
desafíos que las comunidades judías de Europa
deben hacer frente en los próximos años”, agregó
el dirigente, quien accedió a un tercer mandato
tras la Asamblea General celebrada en Bruselas.
Kantor, quien preside el EJC desde junio de 2007,
aseguró que “el antisemitismo está creciendo en
Europa” y se quejó porque las tradiciones judías
están siendo “atacadas” e “Israel está constante-

el ECJ, como Deputy Chairman del Consejo del EJC.
Con sede en París, el Congreso Judío Europeo fue
fundado en 1986. Antes de eso, existía como la
rama europea del Congreso Judío Mundial (WJC).
El EJC hoy en día es una de las cinco filiales regio-
nales del Congreso Judío Mundial y federa a los
líderes democráticamente elegidos de las comu-
nidades judías nacionales en 42 países, uniendo
