2. Sight
• We use our eyes to see. They are our organs of sight.
• We use them to see
colours, size, shape, position, distance.
• We use the cornea, pupil, iris, lens, retina, optic nerve to
see.
• The eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows all protect our eyes.
3. Hearing.
• We use our ears to hear. They are our organs of
hearing.
• Parts of the ear : outer ear, middle ear and inner ear.
They very delicate.
4. How we hear sound
Sound vibrates. The vibrations reach the eardrum.
The vibration moves the three small bones.
The sound then goes to the cochlea.
The sound goes to the auditory nerve to the brain.
5. Smell.
• We use our nose to smell. It is our organ of smell.
• Air enters our nose and go to the nostrils.
• The smell enters to the nasal cavity and go to the
olfatory nerve which sends the information to the
brain.
6. Taste.
• We use our tongue to taste. It is our organ of taste.
• Flavours are: biscuits are sweet, crips are
salty, lemons are sour and dark chocolate is bitter.
7. Touch.
• We use our skin to feel.It is our organ of touch.
• Through our skin we feel temperature, texture and
pain.
• By touching things we know if something is wet or
dry, hot or cold, or hard or soft. Nerve endings sen
the information to the brain.
