1) A young man presented with a painless bulging near the left angle of the jaw. MRI revealed a left intramuscular lipoma within the masseter muscle. Lipomas are common soft tissue tumors that are rarely found in the oral and maxillofacial region.
2) A young woman had a painless mass located near the left angle of the jaw that increased in size with teeth clenching. MRI findings were consistent with an intramuscular hemangioma arising from the masseter muscle.
3) Lipomas and other benign soft tissue lesions in the oral cavity are typically asymptomatic and can be diagnosed with imaging such as MRI. The treatment for these lesions is surgical excision.
