3. In the first case, irregular verbs are so
called not to follow a certain pattern and
in this case must be studied individually.

To form the past simple regular verbs, add the
suffix "-ed" to the verb. The shape is the same for
all persons (I, you, he, she, it, we, THEY).

For verbs that end in an "e", just add "-d.
examples:
change → changed
believe → Believed
If the verb ends in a short vowel and a consonant (except "y" or
"w"), double the final consonant.
examples:
stop → stopped
commit → Committed
With verbs that end in a consonant and a "y", change the "y"
with an "i".
examples:
study → Studied
try → tried

5. (SIMPLE PAST TENSE)
Simple Past tense is used to describe actions that
have happened at an earlier time and have
already completed, for example:
Sujeto + verb past+ complement
I liked the movie last night.
He pronounced the words well.
You noticed Julia's new dress.
You missed me last week.
They arrived this morning.
She used the correct word.
She invited him to her party.

6. NEGATIVE SENTENCES WITH SIMPLE PAST TENSE: Both the
negative interrogative as auxiliary DID is used as it is the past form
of the verb "TO DO" and accompanies the main verb in its infinitive
form. Negations can be used in the contracted form of DID or DID
NOT.

7. Use the Simple Past to express the idea that an action
started and finished at a specific time in the past.
Sometimes, the speaker may not actually mention the
specific time, but they do have one specific time in mind.

Did they arrive this morning?
