1. Nerja Villas
Nerja is situated some 50 kms from Malaga on the coast. It is a beautiful, typically
Andalucian town which has retained its local charms. Nerja benefits from many
things including its climate, location and quality of life, but perhaps for most
holiday renters, one of the most important things is that apartments and villas in
Nerja are plentiful and the main form of accommodation.
They are however, very popular – with tens of thousands of UK & Ireland visitors
booking summer holidays early – so if you want a pick of places then do not
delay!
2. So, why are villas in Nerja so popular? Well, there is the climate – with summer
temperatures regularly above 30 degrees. The beaches - El Playazo, La Torrecilla,
El Salon, Calahonda, El Chorillo, and Burriana stretch over 16 km of fine sand and
clear waters. All major water sports are available, including water skiing, scuba
diving and sailing.
It could also be the way of life - self-catering is well supported, the town
reputedly offers more places to eat per head of population, than anywhere else in
Spain - around 400 bars and restaurants. The benefit to you, apart from choice, is
that standards are high and prices are reasonable. Eating places range from
"cheap and cheerful" to 3 and 4 stars, from traditional Andalucian cuisine through
British, Chinese, Greek, Indian, and others, and from tapas to Sunday roasts -
everything is catered for.
3. The old town is still virtually unchanged with narrow, winding streets,
whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces, idle for a gentle afternoon stroll.
However, the heart of Nerja is its spectacular Balcón de Europa, the "Balcony of
Europe", a magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff, once the
site of the great Moorish castle, with panoramic views of the Mediterranean and
the small coves and beaches below, against an awesome backdrop of hazy blue
Sierra mountains.
4. Finally, there are the historic caves located just three kilometres from the centre
of town. They include archaeological treasures such as paintings over 20,000
years old and other pre-historic remains. One of the enormous natural caverns
has been transformed into a concert hall, where many performances are staged
during the summer.
Whatever your reasons for choosing Nerja villas, you will be glad you did.
WHL Villas have access to hundreds of villas in Nerja– 2 bed to 6/7 beds, from
£500 per week through to £2,000 per week in the summer.
