COMMERCIAL DESIGN – POPULAR CULTURE INSTITUTE
This was a semester long project in which the assignment was to create a 2500 square foot Popular Culture Institute
in a large urban university in a suburban-like setting. This institute will host traveling exhibits and conferences. The
desired atmosphere is one of energy, avoiding institutional and museum qualities.

I chose to include curves and circles to make the institute have a futuristic and fun feeling. The Meeting Room
Ceiling Pattern is alternating heights of 7’-10” and 8’-6”. The Exhibit Room floor pattern is alternating dark and light
wood finishes. The curves are repeated in the wall covering, reception area, benches, and arched walls.

Furniture and Materials:
The project requirement was to use finishes and furniture that was “traditional with a twist”. The clients wanted to
use navy blue and silvers but were open to adding others colors. I chose a carpet tile that was mostly navy blue
with flecks of deep turquoise. I repeated these colors in the wall coverings, fabric, and rubber bases. I chose
silvers and grays to lighten up the deep colors. The furniture has traditional lines with dark finishes.

7. MANUAL DRAFTING/ SPACE PLANNING
REGIONAL MANAGEMENT OFFICE
This was a semester long project in which the assignment was to design an office space for a regional management
office using a 2500 square foot building shell. A professional and impressive atmosphere is desired for this space
which will be used for executive and marketing activities. I placed all private offices on the perimeter of the building
to provide them with a view. I chose a classic pattern hounds tooth but paired it with contemporary colors to
provide a professional and striking setting.

This Gallery Lobby was created in 3D AutoCAD. I used a neutral color palate and modern classic furniture.

This conference room was created in 3D AutoCAD. It includes modern chairs, glass table top, drum pedant lights,
and modern built-in cabinetry.

11. COMMERCIAL DESIGN – THE CORINTHIAN CASINO
The assignment was to create a casino lobby inspired by the Greek furniture style using 3D AutoCAD and hand
drawings. My design concept was to repeat the Greek Key and the slope of the Klismos chair throughout the design.
My goal was to create a majestic and classic lobby.

The owners wish to create a larger master bath, a brighter kitchen, and be able to access the deck from the kitchen.
The desired overall feel of the house is to be open, airy, and have a cottage feel. Having a green design is very
important.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – LEFFERS RESIDENCE
Sustainable Living: I have chosen only ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances and all materials are made from recycled
materials and can be recycled.
Accessible Design: This is the clients’ forever home so I wanted to make it accessible to grow with them. All
doorways, walkways, clear space at appliances, and receptacles within the remodel are wheelchair accessible.

17. The apartment in Chicago was designed to
reflect the traditional architecture of the
building while incorporating the urban feel
of the city. I kept the upholstered furniture
traditional while integrating modern table
surfaces. The soft colors in the fabric are
classic motifs, but have contemporary feel
to them. The neutral color scheme works
because of the varied textures including
leather, voided velvet, sheers, and a small
animal print. This neutral color palate is in
contrast to the dark wood of the floors and
furniture. The floor plan is intended to
allow a view of the city through the
windows from anywhere in the apartment.

19. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – NINA CAMPBELL INSPIRED BEDROOM
The project was to create a master bedroom and closet suite using the style and theories of a designer of your
choice. I choose Nina Campbell because I admire her use of luxury, practicality, and technique of mixing different
eras and styles.
I chose a traditional style in the Chesterfield sofa and Baroque bed. This is in contrast to the mid-century Platner
table, bedside table, and slipper chair. The white wood floor, calm wall color, and black bed are rest areas for the
eye in comparison to the bold patterns in the rug and drapes.

20. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – KATLYN’S BEDROOM
The client wanted a bedroom where she could read and relax. She loves clean lines and non-feminine organic
elements. She also wanted to add a fireplace in the space.

21. LIVING ROOM
MASTER BEDROOM
RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – BRINGING THE OUTDOORS IN
The project was to create a schematic color scheme for a family of four. The family’s hobbies are camping, reading,
and gardening. The couple wanted the bedroom to be relaxing. The husband is very interested in maps and would
like to do something with them so I chose to have a map on the ceiling of the living room. I chose the color scheme
based on the china pieces that were inherited and used the area rug to incorporate all the colors. I chose organic,
leafy patterns to tie in the family’s love of the outdoors. The blue fabric in the bedroom is repeated in the living
room to create a flow throughout the home.

22. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – FRENCH COUNTRY ELEGANCE
I choose classic patterns such as damask, neoclassical toile, and French toile, but on a larger scale. I mixed these with
smaller scale geometrics, stripes, and solids in each room. To keep the feel relaxed I chose French country furniture
painted white. To incorporate elegance into the home, I selected chandeliers with either crystal or bold beads. Each
room has it’s own color scheme but the rooms flow together by using the same tones and patterns.

23. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – COGAN GUEST BEDROOM
The clients wanted a chic and luxurious feel for their guest bedroom. Their families live out of town and visit often.
The clients wanted to create a space that would be a treat for their guests. I chose soft deep purple and ivory fabrics
pared with metallic silvers, Lucite, and a zebra rug for a bit of elegance.

24. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN – ANATRA LIVING ROOM
The clients are a young couple and this is their first home. They wanted a warm and relaxing room where they could
unwind after work and watch television. I chose warm earth colors with pops of fall colors including red, orange, and
green.

25. FURNITURE STYLES – EYGPTIAN TRAVELING MUSUEM
The assignment was to develop a concept for a traveling museum exhibit of 50 gold artifacts and jewelry found in
Egyptian tombs. The project was to include an interior perspective, ideas for seating and exhibit display, floor plan,
and interior finish proposals. I decided to incorporate a map of the Nile River as the flooring and Egyptian columns
for the display.

26. 3D COMPUTER MODELING – 3DS MAX AND RHINO 3D
Project: (3DS Max) Create and render a scene illustrating an unexpected interaction between two or more objects.
I chose to have a “bulb tree” with pine trees as the ornaments.
Project: (Rhino 3D) Invent a new multi-function appliance in detail from Rhino3D software and use Flamingo to
create high-quality renderings of the model. I chose to hybrid a leg extension machine with a salon style sink.

27. BEFORE DESIGN AFTER
BATHROOM REDESIGN
Project: This is the bathroom at a custom picture framing shop that is to be used by employees and customers. The
owners were embarrassed to have clients use the previous bathroom. They wanted the room to represent the
type and quality of work they do.
Solution: I choose a calm and relaxing blue contrasted with a dark espresso. The cabinet was custom made to fit
the narrow space, contemporary art was chosen, and the mirror was framed.
