Pre-Session Questionnaire
Two sessions were carried out at the club with players ranging from 15 to 19 years.
At the beginning of both sessions players were asked to complete a pre-course questionnaire.
Session 1:
9 questionnaires were returned.
Of those completed, 4 were aware of the club guidelines regarding drinking alcohol and 5 were
unsure.
When asked if there were any penalties enforced by the club for players who misuse alcohol, 4
said they knew and 5 were unsure.
About half of the respondents were unsure around penalties that could be enforced around
misuse of alcohol and half claimed they did know the penalties.
When asked how much information they had been given about alcohol by the club 3 said the
club gave them a lot information on alcohol, 3 said the club gave them some information and 3
responded that they had received no information.
3 of the respondents said they had a lot of knowledge about alcohol and it’s effects while 3 said
they had quite a lot and 3 claiming they had some knowledge.
Session 2:
24 questionnaires were returned.
Of those completed, 15 said they were aware of the club guidelines regarding drinking alcohol,
5 were unsure and 4 said they did not know.
When asked if there were any penalties enforced by the club for players who misuse alcohol, 2
said they knew, 21 said they were unsure and 1 said they did not know.
20 out of the 24 respondents said they had been given some information about alcohol, 1 said
they had been given a lot of information and 3 said they had not been given any.
2. When asked how much information they had been given about alcohol by the club 20 said the
club gave them some information on alcohol, 3 said they had received no information and 1
said the club gave them a lot of information.
When asked about their knowledge of alcohol and its effects, 13 said they knew quite a lot, 7
said they knew some, 3 said they knew a lot and 1 did not know much.
Course Evaluations
At the end of the sessions players were asked to complete evaluations of the session.
Session 1:
All 10 players attending returned their questionnaires.
Overall the session appeared to be well received, All those attending said they enjoyed the
session and had learned something new about alcohol and it’s effects.
Half of those attending said it had made them think about their own behaviour, and 6 out of the
10 said it made them think about other people’s behaviour.
50% said they thought the information given was relevant with 3 saying it had some relevance
and 2 who did not think it was that relevant.
When asked if they would recommend the session to others, 9 out of the 10 said definitely or
yes with 1 saying maybe.
Session 2:
27 players attending returned their post session questionnaires.
Overall the session appeared to be well received, All those attending said they enjoyed the
session and had learned something new about alcohol and it’s effects.
21 out of the 27 said the session made them think about their own behaviour, and 22 said it had
made them think about other people’s behaviour.
23 out of the 27 said they thought the information given was relevant with 3 saying it had some
relevance and 1 who did not think it was that relevant.
When asked if they would recommend the session to others, 9 said definitely and 18 said yes.
Overall
Jimmy Lindsay and the team of coaches are owed thanks for their organisation, their hospitality
and their introduction and contributions to both sessions. The players are both sessions took
part keenly in the activities, asked pertinent questions and generally took part with great good
humour and interest. This interest was maintained throughout the evening.
I would like to thank again the players for their interest and for making the session so enjoyable,
the club officials for staying throughout the duration of the session and Jimmy Lindsay for his
assistance.

The presentation delivered by Jane was excellent, and the two sessions had lots of information
and games for the players to participate in as two groups.
The players were still talking about it on the Sunday prior to their match, which is a good sign of
how much they enjoyed it
