Lesson Text:
Mark 15:33-39
Tallapoosa church of Christ
Sunday Evening
March 25, 2012
16. 1 John 4:10 NKJV In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He
loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
17. (4th Saying)
Mark 15:33-36 NKJV Now when the sixth hour had come, there was
darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. (34) And at the
ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi,
lama sabachthani?" which is translated, "MY GOD, MY GOD,
WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" [Ps. 22:1] (35) Some of those
who stood by, when they heard that, said, "Look, He is calling for
Elijah!” (36) Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour
wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, "Let
Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”
18. Sin is Disgusting
Isaiah 59:2 NKJV But your iniquities have separated you from your
God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will
not hear.
Habakkuk 1:13 NKJV You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And
cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal
treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A
person more righteous than he?
19. (5th & 6th Saying)
John 19:28-30 NKJV After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were
now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I
thirst!" (29) Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and
they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to
His mouth. (30) So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He
said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
20. (7th Saying)
Luke 23:46 NKJV And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice,
He said, "Father, 'INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.’”
[Ps. 31:5] Having said this, He breathed His last.
21. Matthew 27:51-54 NKJV Then, behold, the veil of the temple was
torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the
rocks were split, (52) and the graves were opened; and many
bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; (53) and
coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into
the holy city and appeared to many. (54) So when the centurion
and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake
and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying,
"Truly this was the Son of God!”
22. John 19:31-36 NKJV Therefore, because it was the Preparation
Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the
Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate
that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken
away. (32) Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
and of the other who was crucified with Him. (33) But when
they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not
break His legs.
23. John 19:31-36 continued (34) But one of the soldiers pierced His side
with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. (35)
And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and
he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.
(36) For these things were done that the Scripture should be
fulfilled, "NOT ONE OF HIS BONES SHALL BE BROKEN.”
[Ps. 34:20]
24. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV (1) Moreover, brethren, I declare to you
the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in
which you stand, (2) by which also you are saved, if you hold fast
that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (4) and that
He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to
the Scriptures,
25. Romans 5:8-10 NKJV But God demonstrates His own love toward
us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Much
more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be
saved from wrath through Him. (10) For if when we were enemies
we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much
more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
26. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 NKJV (7) and to give you who are troubled
rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His
mighty angels, (8) in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who
do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our
Lord Jesus Christ. (9) These shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of
His power,
27. Mark 16:15-16 NKJV And He said to them, "Go into all the
world and preach the gospel to every creature. (16) He who
believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not
believe will be condemned.
Acts 8:12 NKJV But when they believed Philip as he
preached [the gospel] the things concerning the kingdom of
God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women
were baptized.
