4. Acts 24:22 NKJV But when Felix heard these things, having
more accurate knowledge of the Way, he adjourned the
proceedings and said, "When Lysias the commander comes
down, I will make a decision on your case.”
Acts 24:24 NKJV And after some days, when Felix came with his
wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him
concerning the faith in Christ.
5. Acts 24:25 NKJV Now as he reasoned about
righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come,
Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when
I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Reasoned ‘dialegomai’ – lit. through speaking; Thayer
defines the word as meaning to mingle
thought with thought.
6. Reasoned Out of the Scripture
Acts 17:2-3 NKJV Then Paul, as his
custom was, went in to them, and
for three Sabbaths reasoned with
them from the Scriptures, (3)
explaining and demonstrating
that the Christ had to suffer and
rise again from the dead, and
saying, “This Jesus whom I preach
to you is the Christ.”
7. Acts 24:25 NKJV Now as he reasoned about
righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come,
Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when
I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Righteousness ‘dikaiosunē’ – the condition that is
acceptable to God (Thayer).
8. 2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV Be diligent to present yourself
approved to God, a worker who does not need to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness, (17) that the man of God may be
complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
9. Romans 3:10 NKJV As it is written: "THERE IS NONE
RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE;
Romans 3:23 NKJV for all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 NKJV For the wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
10. Romans 5:8-11 NKJV But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us. (9) Much more then, having now been justified by His
blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. (10) For
if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through
the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we
shall be saved by His life. (11) And not only that, but we
also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through
whom we have now received the reconciliation.
11. Acts 22:16 NKJV And now why are you waiting?
Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins,
calling on the name of the Lord.’
12. Acts 24:25 NKJV Now as he reasoned about
righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come,
Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when
I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Self-control ‘egkrateia’ – self-control; the virtue of
one who masters his desires and passions,
especially sensual appetites (Thayer).
13. 2 Peter 1:5-10 NKJV But also for this very reason, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, (6) to knowledge self-
control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, (7)
to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. (8)
For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren
nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (9) For he
who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has
forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. (10) Therefore,
brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure,
for if you do these things you will never stumble;
14. Galatians 5:22-26 NKJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-
control. Against such there is no law. (24) And those who are Christ's
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (25) If we live in
the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (26) Let us not become
conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
15. Acts 24:25 NKJV Now as he reasoned about
righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come,
Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when
I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Judgment
16. Hebrews 9:27-28 NKJV And as it is appointed for men
to die once, but after this the judgment, (28) so
Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To
those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second
time, apart from sin, for salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:10 NKJV (10) For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may
receive the things done in the body, according to what
he has done, whether good or bad.
17. John 5:28-29 NKJV Do not marvel at this; for the
hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will
hear His voice (29) and come forth— those who have
done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who
have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
18. Acts 24:25 NKJV Now as he reasoned about
righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come,
Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when
I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
Why???
19. Acts 24:26-27 NKJV Meanwhile he also hoped that
money would be given him by Paul, that he might
release him. Therefore he sent for him more often and
conversed with him. (27) But after two years Porcius
Festus succeeded Felix; and Felix, wanting to do the
Jews a favor, left Paul bound.
20. 2 Peter 3:9-11 NKJV The Lord is not slack concerning
His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering
toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all
should come to repentance. (10) But the day of the Lord
will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will
pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt
with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are
in it will be burned up. (11) Therefore, since all these
things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought
you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
