There may be many similarities between France and America, but when it comes to education, there are far more
differences. For one, school levels in France go in descending order as compared to our levels going in ascending order.
They may take education far more serious than we do, but we give our children the opportunity to start their first year of
school at either age 5 or 6, and in France they determine they will go at age 6. Farther along in their school lives, they will
eventually take the SAT’s / ACT’s, american kids take these tests as early as sixth grade, in France, they are taken once
the student has finished all of their schooling. They also only have a limited amount of classes that they can take in order
to get them on the right track. This helps them determine their next stage in life immediately, unlike ours figuring out way
before they need to know it. Another way to see that the french take education more seriously is that their budget is far
more than ours and 10% more of their kids graduate high school.
