- Yammer is Microsoft's big bet for enterprise social and will power social experiences in SharePoint, Office 365, and Dynamics. It will be included at no extra charge with Office 365 Enterprise plans. - Enterprise social networks can increase employee engagement, productivity, and retention while decreasing absenteeism and defects. However, most social initiatives fail because they focus on technology instead of business problems. - For social initiatives to succeed, they need clear goals and metrics, adoption plans, and executive support to change company culture which is more important than the technology.

Yammer Enterprise, which costs $3 per user per month when sold standalone, was previously bundled with Office 365 Enterprise only for customers with Enterprise Agreement volume licensing plans. Office 365 Enterprise customers will also no longer be required to buy Yammer licenses for users on external networks, Mike Grafham, Yammer's "head of customer success," told CRN in a Wednesday interview.
