ABOUT UNE PARTNERSHIPS
The University of New England was invited in 1983 by NSW’s Minister for Technology to undertake a study on
technology transfer with particular focus on the potential for boitechnology.
By the year 1991 the company name was changed to University Partnerships Pty Ltd. The company extended
to commercialising University units of study marketed to full paying audience.
In 1996 UNE Vice-Chancellor Professor Bruce Thom decided to merge the University’s Office of Continuing
Education with University Partnerships Pty Ltd. At the same time, the company was renamed to UNE
Partnerships Pty Ltd.
UNE Partnerships Pty Ltd became a Registered Training Organisation in 1999, accredited with VETAB NSW.
The company went through successful re-accreditations in 2002 and 2007. Re-accreditation with the newly-
formed national regulator is due again in 2012.
UNE Partnerships currently has 31 nationally recognised qualifications on its scope of registration.
