Linkedin’s Resume Tool
Linkedin’s new Resume tool, http://resume.linkedinlabs.com, is a
great way for candidates to easily present their career information
to recruiters and prospective employers.
It’s important that a tool like a resume starts to evolve. If we have
online profiles that change as we do, why shouldn’t our resume be
based on that information? Gone are the days of sitting down to
“re-write” the CV once the jobseeking cycle has begun again…
these days we should be able to have the up-to-date version at our
fingertips.
From a recruiter’s perspective: passive talent are more likely to
have a current Linkedin Profile than a current version of their
resume. Recruiters should recommend that candidates use this tool – getting better details
in to the Linkedin platform only helps searchability!
To make the most of this tool, make sure you do the following:
Have a complete Profile
Completing your Linkedin profile ensures your Linkedin Resume is filled with the right
information from the word go. It also makes you easier to find on Linkedin, which is never a
bad thing!
Keep that Profile up-to-date
When there are changes in your career – roles, responsibilities, achievements – update your
Profile. That way you’ll always have a current version of your CV ready at a moment’s
notice.
Send the link!
Linkedin Resumes are good for a few reasons… one is that you can, of course, save a copy
to send to someone/use in an application… but also because there is a dedicated link to
your CV online. Saves a lot of trouble to just send that when you can… and it’s always
current with your Linkedin Profile information.
More and more sites are integrating with platforms like Linkedin… as a candidate, would you
prefer to be able to apply using a direct link to your Linkedin Resume?
