1. Evaluation on the
Script.

2. Script
Within in my group is me Jordan Collibee, Jack Whiter and Harvey
Muddyman. we have made a music video from a band called the
script and the song is called The man who can’t be moved. we have
chosen this song because the song is about a quite lonely person so we
thought it would be simple just using one character.
3. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge form
and conventions of real media products?
Our music video demonstrates genre characteristics for a
indie/rock group very stereotypically. There is not much
action taking place as the theme of depression and and
loneliness is present. because the song is quite a slow song
and we made it look like the actor is very sad we studied
the video and thought about what the main character was
doing in that video and we did the same thing. The lyrics
are very contradicting towards the visuals. Some of the
lyrics you are able to connect within the video I think we
have made the video look very good to go along with the
music because this is a lonely song and quite a slow song,
and the video is based around all one character and we
have made all the shots very slow and the character is
never near anyone in our video so you are able to tell he is this shot has been faded and whilst its being faded the lyrics are talking
lonely and waiting for the girl he is looking for. in the real about standing on the corner of the street finding her and this shot is
video the main character is the main singer for the script so taking from a corner of the street.
we did the same just focus on one character and people
watching the video will understand that he is the main
character and the lead singer there is many close ups of
him and all about him so the viewers will never lose focus
of that character. our film has lots of shots that fade into
each other and we have one particular shot where there is
a shot of the actor and the camera starts to spin around and
fade into a different shot. i did this because i think it cantos
that his mind is going mad looking for this one person and
the other shot goes into a long shot of a street and
everyone walking past him trying to find her.
this shot is relating to the lyrics again as the lead singer is singing this we
have put on a piece of cardboard so the public and the camera can see he
is trying to look for her and letting everyone know
4. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge form
and conventions of real media products?
these are a few more print screens evolving the
lyrics and the visuals
We took a close up of the main character and in this part of this
This is part of the song where he is talking
song they are talking about standing the character’s ground
about being on the news for sitting there for
until he finds the girl and we match these too together we
weeks and looking for this girl and we
think its a powerful shot because he looks powerful and ready
manage to get a microphone and made it
to take anything on that comes his way
look like he was being interview also put
breaking news at the bottom of the screen so
it will make it look like he is on tv.
5. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary
texts?
Our music video is about being lonely and sad and i think we have approached this pretty well
in the video and the ancillary tasks. when looking at the real video for this song he is again like
ours the only main character and on his own more or less through out the whole video. Our
background on our magazine poster its like a basic background and very simple looking and
goes quite well with the video because if you have something that has bright colours it would
contradicted the video because within the video its very basic colours and the weather wasn’t as
sunny day it was a gloomy dark foggy day so i think they blended quite well. The album covers
are very much the same the front has a picture of him standing out on a pier with the mist and
birds around him so like the video he is very much on his own and again the mist helped us out
across the water. The back cover is the same its the last shot of the film with the actor holding up
the name of the film with all the names of the songs along the side. I think this video and the
song is aimed at all the people who likes indy and slow pop songs and people who are laid back.
i think the social class would be C1 and B1 because there sort of in the middle of the social class
ladder and they would be mainstreamers very normal people.
6. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary
texts?
These are our two completed album covers. They
are very simple but effective covers which
displays the mood which the Album projects. We
used these two picture as we felt they made the
main character stand out and be shown to be
lonley once again. We applied a different colour
for the background, plus cut out his coat and
stuck it over the top of him so it would make him
stand out greatly.
We also used images from the internet to
help make our album cover and
background as realistic as possible, plus to
help boost our mark.
7. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary
texts?
This is our magazine poster i think the background
works pretty well if we used a loud colour it
wouldn’t of fit in the with video and the album
covers so i used sort of an old coloured paper so it
would keep it calm and the i cut out two picture of
him to advertise the main character in the video and
we have made quotes from newspapers so people
would be dragged towards it.
8. how did you use media technologies in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
This is the lasso tool that we used to cut out
a normal coloured pictured and we cut out
his gillet to put on the dim picture so the
main character would stand out
Within our video we used wide range of media technologies from final cut express,
photoshop, live type. In all the programs we could use many different effects to make our film
look better our album cover is just one of our many examples as you can see we made the
colur all dim and lifeless, so we could make our main character stand out to make him stand
we used a lasso tool. in final cut we only used one effect where from each shot we would fade
one shot in to another, there is one certain shot where our main character is sitting on the
bench and in the next shot we faded him out.
Final cut express- With final cut express we done all of our editing on this software. We fund
this very useful because the programme was very simple to use once you figured out your
way around it. With the simplicity of the software we could edited our film very easily. The
software suited our group very well because with it being simple but very effective we could
do a lot more interesting cuts from shot to shot. This helped us a lot because our music video
was a slow moving video with only some shots of the character or vehicles moving a long
distance we could fade our shots into each other with smooth transitions between the shots.
9. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
It doesn’t take up much space but you can still see it
and it looks out of place this is why we got told so
many times to take it out.
People told we shouldn’t have many people in the film because it will take the spotlight about
that one main character so we kept to that one character so he could be fully concentrated on
by the viewers and with the album covers we got told to make sure he stands out thats why
we cut out his jumper so he did. we got told to make all the shots slow cuts and fading with
each other so it would fit in with the song. in one our shots there was an orange peel and we
got told to re-film it but we couldn’t the day we filmed was a foggy day and this helped up
add effect to our film but we couldn’t re-film because it would look stupid because that day
wouldn’t have the same weather and it would ruin the continuity.
