This book shows the absolute validity of
Napoleon Hill's classic success book "Think and
Grow Rich." W. Clement Stone seems to have
put all of what Hill wrote about, which made
him successful beyond belief.
Napoleon Hill's books have been a treasured part

others countless times. I consider Napoleon Hill
to be one of the earliest "proactive thinkers" in
the world. As the father of the science of
personal achievement, he has been one of my
success mentors. If you haven't read this book
before, get ready for profound wisdom.
Napoleon Hill makes it easy to understand that
our thoughts are things and have God given

The element is the point at which natural talent
meets personal passion. This groundbreaking
new book is all about how every one of us can
find our element, connecting with our true
talents and fulfilling our creative potential.
Creativity expert Ken Robinson believes that we
are all born with tremendous natural capacities,
but that we lose touch with them as we spend
more time in the world. Whether it's a child
bored in class, an employee being misused or
just someone who feels frustrated but can't quite
explain why, too many people don't know what
they are really capable of achieving. Education,
business and society as a whole are losing out.

role in thought, decision making and individual
success. Self-awareness, impulse control,
persistence, motivation, empathy and social
deftness are all qualities that mark people who
excel: whose relationships flourish, who are
stars in the workplace. With new insights into
the brain architecture underlying emotion and
rationality, Goleman shows precisely how

24. Who moved my cheese?
With Who Moved My Cheese? Dr. Spencer
Johnson realizes the need for finding the
language and tools to deal with change--an issue
that makes all of us nervous and uncomfortable.
Most people are fearful of change because they
don't believe they have any control over how or
when it happens to them. Since change happens
either to the individual or by the individual,
Spencer Johnson shows us that what matters
most is the attitude we have about change. When
the Y2K panic gripped the corporate realm
before the new millenium, most work
environments finally recognized the urgent need
to get their computers and other business
systems up to speed and able to deal with
unprecedented change. And businesses realized
that this was not enough: they needed to help
people get ready, too. Spencer Johnson has
created his new book to do just that.

15. 25. The art of the start.
The book makes a big promise with its sub-title,
"The Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide for
Anyone Starting Anything." I wondered if such
a book could live up to it. "Starting anything"
refers to a business, not a career, school, or
hobby.
Obviously, it's impossible to create a
comprehensive book of business best practices
because every business has its own variables.
What works great for one may kill another.
However, the book doesn't take that approach.
Rather, it tells how it is starting a business and
the rough road of dealing with VCs (venture
capitalists). If you expect a positive spin on stuff
that's hard to do. Read a fairy tale instead.

In the October 2004 issue of Wired magazine,
Chris Anderson published an article in which he
shared these observations: "(1) the tail of

(2) it's now within reach economically; (3) all
those niches, when aggregated, can make up a
significant market - seemed indisputable,
especially backed up with heretofore unseen
data." That is even truer today than it was when
The Long Tail was first published years ago. The
era that Anderson characterizes as "a market of
multitudes" continues to grow in terms of both
its nature and extent. In this book, Anderson
takes his reader on a guided tour of this market
as he explains what the probable impact the new

Now the Internet has eliminated the barriers of

Persuasiveness has always been a very important
aspect of advertising, politics, and a myriad
other professions that rely heavily on the
opinions and attitudes of others in order to exist
and make an impact on the world. For the better
or worse, in modern world an increasing number
of professions fall into this category. Weather we
are trying to teach someone a new skill,
persuade a boss or a colleague, or ace a job
interview, we need to be able to present our
ideas effectively. We need to make them stick.
"Made to Stick" expands on the idea of
"stickiness" popularized by Malcolm Gladwell
in "The Tipping Point." Brothers Heath have
spent many years working in their respective
fields - organizational behavior and education -
and have jointly come up with their idea of what

Surprising Truth About Motivating Others). In
this provocative and persuasive new book, he

always been great. Most companies have been
good, and never great. What should these firms

a great company, and how. The answer to the
former question is "yes," assuming that the 11 of
1435 Fortune 500 companies did not make it
there by accident. The answer to the latter is less
clear. The study group identified a number of
characteristics that their 11 companies had in
common, which were much less frequently
present in comparison companies. However, the
study inexplicably fails to look at these same

38. Rework
One of my biggest gripes about the early
reviews to come out about Rework is that they
had no substance. Words like "inspirational",
"brilliant", and "rethink" generally trigger my
BS alarm, so I really didn't know what to expect
with Rework. I've been reading Signal vs. Noise,
the design and usability blog by 37signals, for a
few years now, and I've had plenty of time to
become acquainted with Jason and David's style.
That I even refer to them by their first names
should clue you in to their style. They come
across in writing as they do in their live
webcasts and presentations: familiar. Point is,
I've been irked by the longest by those vapid
early reviews to come out. They meant nothing
to me. Hopefully you'll find this review more
much helpful for determining whether or not
Rework is worth your time.

22. 39. The innovators dilema
His work is cited by the world’s best known
thought leaders, from Steve Jobs to Malcolm
Gladwell. In his bestselling book, The
Innovator’s Dilemma, innovation expert Clayton
M. Christensen introduced the world to the
revolutionary principles of disruptive
innovation--new rules for doing business in a
rapidly changing environment. This business
classic shows how even the most outstanding
companies can do everything right—yet still
lose market leadership. Every thoughtful
business person--no matter your level or
industry—should read this book to avoid a
similar fate.
Offering both the successes and failures of
leading companies as a guide, The Innovator’s

24. 43. Influence
As I sit here and write, I wonder why I did not
draft this review long before now. I read
Cialdini's book about five years ago and have
been hooked ever since. It is simply a superb
book about influence.
Cialdini believes that influence is a science. This
idea attracted me. As a rhetorician, I have
always thought of persuasion as more of an art.
Cialdini, however, makes a first-rate case for the
science point of view. But maybe most
importantly, he makes his case in a well-written,
intelligent, and entertaining manner. Not only is
this an important book to read, it is a fun book to
read too.

44. The power of now
To make the journey into the Now we will need
to leave our analytical mind and its false created
self, the ego, behind. From the very first page of
Eckhart Tolle's extraordinary book, we move
rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where
we breathe a lighter air. We become connected
to the indestructible essence of our Being, “The
eternal, ever present One Life beyond the
myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and
death.” Although the journey is challenging,
Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy
question and answer format to guide us. A word
of mouth phenomenon since its first publication,
The Power of Now is one of those rare books
with the power to create an experience in
readers, one that can radically change their lives
for the better.

25. 45. 7 Habits of Highly Effect: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
As the title of the book implies, Covey describes
the seven habits of highly effective people and
techniques for adopting the seven habits. Covey
makes clear that an individual must make a
paradigm shift before incorporating these habits
into his/her own personal life. A paradigm is
essentially the way an individual perceives
something. Covey emphasizes that if we want to
make a change in our lives, we should probably
first focus on our personal attitudes and
behaviors. He applies different examples via
family, business, and society in general.
This book's focal point is on an approach to
obtain personal and interpersonal effectiveness.
Covey points out that private victories precede
public victories. He makes the example that

46. Never eat alone.
Do you want to get ahead in life?
Climb the ladder to personal success?
The secret, master networker Keith Ferrazzi
claims, is in reaching out to other people. As
Ferrazzi discovered early in life, what
distinguishes highly successful people from
everyone else is the way they use the power of
relationships—so that everyone wins.
In Never Eat Alone, Ferrazzi lays out the
specific steps—and inner mindset—he uses to
reach out to connect with the thousands of
colleagues, friends, and associates on his
Rolodex, people he has helped and who have
helped him.

26. 47. the 22 Inmutable laws of marketing
After 10 years, this still remains a classic work
in the marketing field, and perhaps a must-read
for anyone in business. And no, unlike many
reviewers I do not believe that Ries and Trout
have ever managed to redo the glory of this
book in their Laws of Branding, Laws of
Internet Branding etc.
Don't expect an excruciating marketing treatise
with elaborate case studies and What-If
scenarios. Expect instead 22 capsules of
business wisdom, or "laws" of common sense
marketing with some brilliant examples from the
real world to prove them. In this, the book
excels and is to date the briefest and best argued
work I have come across.

I have been reading Garr Reynold's Presentation
Zen blog even before the first book came out.
Getting Presentation Zen (The Book) was just
the next logical step, since it provides all that
useful information you can find on the website
in a structured, readable, and easily accessible
way. Four years and another two books
(Presentation Zen Design and The Naked
Presenter) later, there is now a second edition of
the original Presentation Zen book. What can we
expect from it?

that’s part of any negotiation by using his proven
system of safe, decision-based negotiation that
enables you to meet all your objectives without
needless, wasted compromises or giveaways.

home, but then at the last minute she demands
that you pay for new landscaping of the yard—
or no deal. There are plenty of other properties
for sale, and she says she’ll walk.

50. Crowdsourcing
Every significant trend requires a book that
defines its key concepts, pioneers and rational.
Crowdsourcing is that book for the application
of social and community capability to business
and society. Jeff Howe has created a readable
chronicle of the early adopters who use crowds
to replace experts. Coupled with James
Surowieck's "Wisdom of Crowds" the two books
will be used in corporate offices and marketing
teams to look at how to engage crowds in the
future.
Executives, marketing professionals, and
product managers should read both books to
better understand how to tap into this resource.
However, do not expect a recipe book, specific
solutions, or a road map to crowdsourcing.

52. Spin Selling
Neil Rackham has hit one out of the park with
Spin Selling. Turning everything I "thought" I
knew about closing on its head, he provides the
power tools for making the most of a sales call.
The most important concept here is that you, as
a sales rep. are not there when the real decisions
get made. Therefore, you must arm your
prospects with the tools to represent your
company well in your absence.
