I have been approached by NW films, to complete research
for them into existing teen films and their audiences
with a view to them producing their own new teen film. I
have prepared a report using images and sound that
informs the company of the audience profile.
WHAT FILMS DO THEY WATCH?
MOVIES
From looking at the Kaiser family research I found out that
the people who visit the cinema the most are -
age: 14-18
 race: black
 gender: male
 parents education: HS or less

The research carried out by the Kaiser family was all done
in America, this makes the information less reliable but
it is still relevant and useful.

From looking at my primary research results I can see that
the most popular Genre for films was comedy and horror,
although this was out of twenty people.
WHERE ARE THEY SHOPPING?
MAGAZINES THEY READ
WHERE DO THEY WATCH FILMS?
Buying DVD’s is no longer a common way to watch films due to the expensive prices and the
easier and cheaper alternatives

Services like Netflix and Love Film offer a wide range of films to be watched on your computer,
gaming console or TV, the only issue is that it’s around £6 a month which is expensive for a
teenager to pay for, if a teenager has this service it is often paid for by their parents.

The cheapest and possibly easiest way to watch films is by illegally streaming them, although the
quality of the films is often poor, it is still 100% free and very easy to find whatever film you are
looking for.

Even though there is these free and cheap ways to watch films cinema is still very relevant, this
is because for teenagers cinema is not just to enjoy the film but to enjoy the whole cinema
experience with your friends, also cinema offers what no website or service can do which is
showing brand new films with perfect quality.

MUSIC
A good way to see what music is popular is to go on MTV charts
(http://www.mtv.co.uk/music/charts/this-weeks-top-20) after looking at the top
20 I saw that these artists had the top three spots -

Pink - try Calvin Harris – sweet PSY – Gangnam
                       nothing style
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE
         FILMS

I think comedy is always a good choice when aiming a
film at both male and female, especially teenagers,
to make it more appropriate it could also be a teen
comedy set in London. Of course there would be a
main topic like an issue or a hobby for the film to
revolve around. This type of film would suit the teen
   audience I have just profiled
